But the time is already being displayed on top of your in-game screen right?

He is probably talking about real world time.
Here is a topic concerning a common altitude time which would be the same for everyone, which is related to this suggestion: http://altitudegame.com/forums/showthread.php?t=2635. It would allow people to easily agree on scrims, leagues, tournaments, etc.

I second the whish for a display of the local system time. I regularily play Altitude for short intervals and it would be great to be able to check the time without looking away from the screen.

If you just want the local system time and use Windows, I released a 3rd party clock overlay a while ago that should do the trick: http://altitudegame.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1553

I would love that. I play regularly during lunch time at work, and I need to know when the time comes to stop and get back to do work related stuff.
PS: At work I play on Linux and at home I play on a Mac so tec27 solutions isn't really for me.

Why do people play in fullscreen?

When you're on full screen, all the graphics card resources are assigned to the game, the game refresh rate doesn't have to wait for your OS GUI to refresh the screen to update itself, no graphic resources are beeing wasted drawing other windows, etc...
In addition, you get bigger objects, thus making it easier not to hit other objects or to decide when to take some action (in biplane for example, to decide when you're ir range for the F D combo).

Only tried it the 1st day i played the game and hated it.
Bigger graphics > worse resolution... And i cant say it for sure but, it wasnt proportional as far as i remember  I think its all about the vision

The resolution is the same, you just get smaller pixels if your desktop resolution is higher than the one in the game. For me the main reason is to enhance the performance. I can't see why anyone would play in windowed mode unless they have some other application on other windows which will require their input during the gameplay.

I love to play Alti in windowed mode. This allows me to chat on irc during spawn timer and lets me see any announcements and popups from any software I have running. I can sometimes even surf the web at the same time.
Sadly my new graphics card doesn't like windowed mode and stutters a lot so now I'm forced to play in full screen.

You can even take some time to view popups from websites. That's what I call entertainment. :D
PS: With the ball spawn times, that makes for some amusing conversations on IRC for sure.
next patch:

Nice! How about the global Altitude time? Any thoughts on that?

So we're getting full Bot-on-Bot action, next patch? :O
Anyway, good job on the time. This will be nice for people who don't wear watches like normal people. :p
Karl cropped out the part of the screenie that shows his name.
And what gemi said. A uniform Altitude Time would get rid of the time zone confusion.
