Can you add it that you can mute players on the server?

Sometimes players are just chatting too much, can be very annoying.

/serverMute <Player Name> <Duration> *5 minutes if empty*
/vote serverMute <Player Name> *always 5 minutes*

If a player chats he gets the message "4:59 until you can use the chatfunction again".

I think it's a better solution that kick immediately.

um, can't you already press TAB (or whichever button you have to show the scores and ratios) and then right click on a persons name and hit "mute player"? I could be wrong if you are talking about soemthing else, but I am pretty sure this is what you are talking about.

I meant they wont be able to talk at all for a x time.
So the first function from my first post for admins and the second function (vote) for normal players.

vote function would be abused too much imo, only admins should be allowed.

I'm not sure I see how this is necessary. As gene mentioned earlier, you can just mute someone who annoys you. If people are talking a lot but it's not really offensive talk, just ignore the chat box. I don't think it's really a big enough deal that you'd need an admin command to shut someone up for x amount of time.

Well I like the option. Maybe only for admins indeed. But it would be great that the option is there.
That it will be used the admins can decide themselves, but it's not there now... ;)
It can be handy with scrims and official matches...

It's hard to ignore the chat, unless you turn on capture mode. And sometimes you don't/can't kick chat spamming guy due to various reasons, and muting him is an option. Instead of everyone muting him on his own, with option like this, admin can mute him for all.

I see way too much drama and abuse coming from this suggestion. While many admins would use this properly I feel like many would abuse it.

Maybe you're right, but isn't it the same as with kicks and bans? With great power comes great responsibility :-)

I don't think its necessary, whoever is annoyed should just local mute and the problem is solved
