I think it would be great if there was a spectate join game feature.
What I mean is, what if instead of joining a game to play, what if you could join a game as a spectator.

Can you explain what you mean? Currently, if you join a server, you join as a spectator with the option to join the game (assuming tournament mode is off). Are you referring to a feature whereby players join a full (12/12) server as spectators (e.g. 15/12)? If so, yes, it's been requested but not implemented.

I like the idea, but if you're banned from the server would you still be able to join? :confused:
