This forum has a lot of really good and really bad ideas.

As a means of injecting some freshness into the game, as well as testing out new features, it would be neat to have experimental servers, where the better ideas from this forum could be tried out by the community. At the end of every round, there could be a vote to see how many like the changes. Alternatively, you could see the retention rate of the servers (how many people stick around for round 2, 3, etc.)

If that's not enough work, players can see each other's suggestions and vote for the ones they think need to be implemented first.

And just so I don't have to make extra threads, I had 2 ideas I wanted to throw out that I remember.
1. A CTF mode where players have to steal the bomb/flag/whatever from the enemy base and get it back to theirs (optionally having to land on the base to actually capture). This might require new maps, with more static defenses (turrets, emp cannons, poison gas generators, what have you) so that teams would have to most likely destroy some of those before being able to infiltrate the enemy base. (while we're here, a new plane idea: engineer plane/helicopter that can build and upgrade turrets, tf2 style). The bomb/flag/.. should not be able to be passed to teammates upon death.
I realize that this idea has been proposed by everyone and their mothers. I just wanted to throw out a couple details as to how the inevitable should be implemented. Also, engineer helis.
2. I think being able to pick up/defuse the enemy's bomb over their base in TBD might add some depth and new strategies to the game-mode. You obviously should not be able to damage the enemy's base with their own bomb, but you can waste it for them.

We were talking about some map concepts with some TL members a few weeks ago and we believe that if you put let's say team1 base in the team2 spawn (and their bomb here too), so that team2 base would be near team1 spawn (with their bomb there too), that would work like a CTF.
You have to go all the way to their (fortified) spawn where your base/bomb is, take the bomb, and come back to your spawn to bomb their base.
It would represend (i think) a lot of work to the devs to actually introduce the CTF concept in the game, but that bomb idea would just require a map.

Nice map concept! I can't wait to see a couple get built. It'd be a CTB for capture the bomb, but a CTBD. One weirdness is being able to heal at the 'enemy' base and not your 'home' base, but maybe that could be prevented with a thin wall.

I think someone should try this. Just switch the bases around on like tbd_hills or tbd_cave

This is the problem with this setup, which is that you really can't heal anywhere. One way that NfoMonkey and I came up with to overcome this is to have team specific health powerups near the enemy bomb, but that might not work with the possible upcoming change to health powerups.

I definately think adding CTF to the game types would be HUGE for altitude. And that would sort of be one way around it, however you'd still be taking out the "get your flag back" part of the game, which is what makes ctf, ctf. Its not enough to get the enemy flag, you've got to bring it back to yours(which better be there). And what would still make ctf a no go, is how easy it is to kill currently.. its hard enough to make it to an enemy base as it stands, some rounds go on forever, because no one can make it through(one way) :) It would require a new "mechanism" to make it happen, but it shouldnt be too hard. Require your bomb(flag) to be present at the base to score(land). To make it actually function perhaps, for the "ctf game mode", double aircrafts hp across the board. And/or make it so, to return "your" flag, you need 3 different players on "your" team to touch it before its returned(as its already way to east to just kill 1 person to defuse bomb/return flag). But only one person from the enemy team needs to touch it to pick it back up. Something like that *could* make it possible for a team to get all the way in, take the flag, and actually haul it back out.

Whatever the system CTF would be awesome for altitude!!!

The main question on everyone's mind at this point is: would Shyney buy the game if there was a CTF mode?

Lol, its tempting!

Seriously though, im all for making the game as fun as it can be, and more enjoyable for everyone involved(regardless of my stance on what they are trying to charge for the game).
