View Full Version : Scaling rating impact with player experience?

Would it be possible to have a games impact on your rating scale with the amount of experience players have? Example: Having it only be +/- 20 when there is one person with very few games played, but +/- 30 when everyone is 2 stds above (globa, all ladder players) mean.

Having the potency of this effect scale up and down with size of the standard deviation within the group of 12 players would make things fairer.
(Or even, first idea aside, just have all games above a certain minimum mean experience scale like this)

I know that might be a lot of computation if you're trying to optimize the thing, but it might tamp the whining about noobs in ladder.
