At least put some discussion in the topic, make a little effort? Instead of just another thread with endless, pointless lists no one cares about except themselves?

People who have left Altitude should not be able to bitch about Altitude or anything Altitude-related on the forums unless they come back to the game. Discuss. |

Well there's not much to discuss IMO, but I'll comment my choices
I like maps that are well balanced for all planes. Most of the maps I like are top-centered (meaning most action happens on top) with good bomber spam routes, but also open air for the other planes and more obstacles in the miranda land below. I don't like neutral maps, not only because of all the bomb wasting, but because it is much harder for a team to make an attack. You may argue that is better because it requires better teamwork to win, but all it really does is make us wait 20 minutes instead of 2 minutes for a push goo enough to get a hit. Especially Middle and loco are way too easy to defend. Grotto and Focus are better than the others, because the bomb-spawn is not exactly in open range. It's easier to organize an attack that way. |

Faction spawns and protected areas near the bases allow for excellent team coordination and strategy, as well as creative pushes. There are only 1 or 2 turrets per side which are not useful in Asteroids. The rest are well-protected and have excellent overlap in their fields of fire. Every bomb route, even the top wraparound, can be used effectively. Every plane has a chance to shine. There is plenty of cover for Mirandas to operate from. Lots of twists and turns mean that Explos have many options for slamming planes into things. Chokes at every bomb route give Bombers a chance to shine. Loopys have lots of confined areas to neutralize with EMP and Acid. Biplanes have many places to lurk around and setup ambushes in. Why Core was last : Core is a terrible map. I have no idea why so many people like it. The only bomb on the map is neutral and in a wide-open area. This area is surrounded by small chokes which make perfect aiming guides for spammers. This reduces the ability of teams to function together and make a push to the point of silliness, and it encourages bomb-wasting and long, drawn-out games. There are really only two bomb routes, and both of them end up in a virtually unobstructed expanse all around the base, meaning that defending is a no-brainer. The majority of the map's territory is taken up by large walls with little space around them. The only area in the map where a team can gather other than the base is the middle, and that is nothing more than a giant killzone. This makes team coordination and strategy difficult at best. The only turret that is useful to either team is the front one, and that is pitifully easy to destroy. Powerups are few, and are awkwardly placed. |

i totally agree about core.
Roids and cave i like, i think maps with bombs on each side lead to more strat and less of a go in spam, take bomb, with disadvantage drop (rinse and repeat) |

well i like it because almost every plane fits in really well, HC can be used to snipe effectively, use the laser from below to counter whales and nadespam, why not? loopies can make crazy lobs and the whales are here for the map control. (i also just enjoy playing it so i can sneak kill people with HC and laser :])

Nice description, I'm the kind of guy who adapts and so I don't really have a map I hate, I usually just play has I feel is more natural for that map, reducing the frustration that usually leads to hating the map.
When you explain it this way, I have to agree with every point you made. In tbd_core I usually play the flak bomber and try to control the center while in most other maps I play the flexy recoiless biplane and try a lot of bomb running. I feel like bomb-running doesn't pay in core cause it's too easy to defend, while trying to control the center with a bomber, is very rewarding because of all the choke points. I usually play in public servers, which gives me this freedom to choose the role I will play (specially because there's never a lack of bomb campers willing to pick the bomb and die with it) but I reckon that in structured teams, this is a major "DON'T" for this map. |

IMO its one of the most difficult to defend. A good randa-runner with a pushing team... > HIT

1. Fallout - Just an interesting map that seems well-paced. Games never seen too short or too long, and I always have lots of fun moments here. Maybe I'd like it less if I played it more though, I dunno.
2. Asteroids - I really like how there are several very viable routes here and taking down the turrets is meaningful but not required. My major gripe is that I think bomber is massively OP on Roids. Those lanes are just spam heaven, and bombers are so great at taking down the turrets. Bleh. 3. Heights - Just a solid, basic map. Art can be annoying and unclear, but otherwise I like it a lot. 4. Mayhem - Fun and unique. The only map I've played with two center bomb spawns! I like the constant communication in league games to let everyone know where the next spawn will be, and the uncertainty whether it'll be a bomb or a health pack. 5. Grotto - Excellent, well-paced center bomb map. Probably is actually a better map than most of the ones above it on this list. 6. Cave - excellent map. A testament to the quality of maps we have that this is so low! 7. Woods - I dunno why everyone hates Woods. It's fine. 8. Core - Fun, but games take a little long sometimes and I dislike the dynamic of being so exposed in the center and so many kills being due to random spam. 9. Lostcity - Not horrible, but too campy. 10. Locomotion - Games just take too damn long. 11. Middleground - Ditto. Maps I don't know well enough to rank: Justice (the little I played though made me wonder why it's so widely hated) Focus (I don't think I've ever even seen this map :/) |

1. Grotto - I fell in love with this map the first time I played it.
2. Core - one of the first maps I ever played on Altitude. I love it. 3. Mayhem - this map is awesome. 4. Heights - fun map to play. 5. Justice - not a bad map in my opinion. 6. Cave - I hate cave 7. Lostcity - good for FFA. 8. Middleground - pretty good. 9. Asteroids - it is okay. 10. Football- the best loopy map ever. Grotto is a good map because it takes team work to win. ^ ^ The ball version of grotto is just pure awesome. |
