Concerning custom_stop situations

So a few minutes ago, a game on TBD ladder started, tbd_grotto. Fluffy had been lagging and getting a few ping kicks before that game and happens to be that he's part of this specific one too. Many were already complaining about it, so I suggested to custom stop and start a new game than rather have a 4v4 game with 2 guys sitting because 1 of them is getting constantly kicked.

Apparently, I suggested that we custom stop, start a new game but with only the people who were already playing in the tbd_grotto game and have the other 4-5 specs sit(??). We finally got a custom stop on that game and started a new one, but then sky comes up and says "slender sit, EVERYONE SIT" trying to make what I "suggested" happen when it was actually Fluff who suggested the idea which is still bs.

So another custom stop is made but this time, only the people who were on that grotto game got to play.

That is ****ing bull**** handsdown. If people keep agreeing on this kind of silly/ridiculous decisions, I'm gonna wave ladder bye bye like many have done and join leggo in wonderland.

I'm not exactly sure what it is you're suggesting here... To be honest I think people might as well resign themselves to the fact that when you stop tourney, a bunch of the specs are gonna join; unfortunately there's no good way to control that

if that had actually happened, you could have obviously just reported them after the fact (or contacted me on steam at any point during any of this). there was nothing they could do to prevent you from joining and playing, and you allowing them to do it will do nothing to make them think they are wrong.

if you wanted to play, you should have played. sky is completely in his rights to request that only the original 10 get to play, but obviously can do nothing to enforce that you do. if you join and they refuse to start the game until you spectate, then you can just stay in until they either play with you or let ladder die.

is there a point to this thread? you told a riveting story, but seem to be aware that no actual rules were being broken and just wanted to complain. was there a rule or something you wanted us to add? something to discuss?

Very fair points made. And no, absolutely not. I just wanted to bring this up to try and prevent future stupid custom_stop situations like this. I know I could've told you on steam but it wasn't really needed since everything seemed to be ok with everyone by the end of the chat log (where I got specced, left the game and everyone was happy).

If the original game was stopped because one person had bad ping then that player still needs to be replaced by one of the specs. Who gets to choose that player...?
