Default Alti in Steam Trading Cards

'ey.
Have you devs thought of joining that? I know some people who would buy a game just for the card drops meaning you could potentially get a healthy boost in sales. Also being part of the Trading Card games would give you "free" publicity.

How does that work in developers point of view, anyways? Do you get an invite from Valve or is it something "everyone can do"?

Best I could find about a dev getting their game into the Trading Cards:

Adding new games will be slow at first while we work through any issues with the system or content. After we get everything working smoothly we hope to add many more games.

Unknown World's dev state they have been working on integration into NS2 since the start of the beta and expect to be done late August.

There are currently 126 games with cards attached. (Search steam games, 2nd ddl -> Games, Advanced search 3rd dll Category -> Steam Trading Cards).

I couldn't find a trading card page aimed at helping devs working on getting content added for their game. At a guess, there is minimum to nothing for the code base to change, just art content provided from the dev. 6 to 14 high quality images for the card's zoomed in view, 2+ background images for profiles, 2+ small images for emoticons.

Potential cards: each plane type (5), Bomb/base, Ball/hoop, powerups, Mikesol, SSD, Maimer

Yeah, probably. Wasn't sure whether to post there or here.

Potential emoticons could be left goal, right goal, base, turret, ball, bomb, perk icons, level badges.
Potential background images: goal/base areas of some maps, say, asteroids, cave, grotto, lab etc.

Agreed.

+1 for the creation of an "ideas for the devs" thread. For ideas that go beyond mere suggestions, and have the community's support.

(This idea belongs in such a thread, because integrating it will be profitable for them, as the sales on these cards net some cash.)

This seems the next logical step up from a "suggestion" thread. The upside is... this may make these suggestions easier for Karlam to sort through & implement. Only downside I can see... an extra permanent thread will require admin monitoring to keep out the stupidity...)

Bump and a request for an admin to get this moved to suggestions.
Hopefully would get more love there.

So apparently if you sell your gubbins (cards, emoticons, backgrounds) on the Steam marketplace, both Valve and devs get a small cut of the sales. I know it would be just some funny money on your scale, but hey, still better than nothing.

This cut can be seen from when any card transaction transpires to the user. Valve has been very open not only that money leaves the system, but in how much.

Well, Steam does give game developers around 70% gross of their sales, so this is no surprise.

You could also give out cp and / or custom skins for completing a badge / all 5 badges / a foil badge.

Also bumb.

Bumb. Also a recap.

Cards: one of each planes.

Badges: Ace 0, Ace 4, Ace 5, Ace 6, Ace 7
Foil badge: Ace 10

Emoticons: Left team goal (red), right team goal (blue), neutral ball, neutral bomb, left team base (red), right team base (blue)

Background images: Goal areas of Cave, goal areas of Asteroids, goal areas of Darkwar, base areas of Core, base areas of Grotto, base areas of Mayhem

If you want to give ingame prizes for collecting badges, a badge could grant you a special skin for a certain plane (r1 loopy, r2 bomber and so on).
Foil badge could grant you a special skin for every plane.
Beat Hazard has this sort of a thing, you get a special skin for badge levels, so it's definitely doable.

Alternatively badge levels could give you cp. 50 / 100 cp per badge level.

You have a lot of material what you could use including perk icons and those front views of the planes.
Having maps as background images seem like the only reasonable option in my opinion.

Just don't use the girl from your steam store and you'll be in the clear.
