Default Sound, but no video Win7 64 [SOLVED]

Launch Altitude, get splash screen, then resolution changes, then get black screen, however music still plays and I can heard button selection sounds when I press cursor keys.

Few days earlier altitude worked fine without any problems. I did not change any graphics settings or anything related with that. Made fresh reinstall, but no luck.

Any ideas?

have you tried updating your video drivers to the latest version?

It seems the reason is that latest Intel GMA 4500 64bit (Windows 7) drivers are not compatible with Altitude game. Earlier version of drivers which came from Windows 7 Update servers worked fine with Altitude, however I am not able to get them back.

Hope that Altitude developers will pay attention to this problem and somehow solve it, if it's possible, so honest user who paid for game 20$ could play it again

I wish there was something we could do about broken drivers but there isn't. You can yell at intel if it makes you feel better .

So why can you not get the "older" working drivers? Can you not download them from intel? How did you update to this "new" driver?

Is this the driver version you are using?

Hopefully once Win7 is release intel will get their drivers fixed.

Seems that it is not personal Altitude<>Drivers problem. It seems that manufacturer's Intel GMA 4500 drivers for Windows 7 64bit have problems with OpenGL support (because other OpenGL applications refuse to work correctly also).

Looking for ways to correct these issues.

Solved.

Uninstalled display drivers, deleted them from windows driver cache, downloaded from Windows Update.

Altitude working.

Maybe this should be a new post, but its the same symptoms so here goes:

I have much the same issue, except that Alti works fine until it is minimized. If a window pops up in the back ground that takes focus or I minimize to do something (like check ladder rank =), then I have to quit Altitude for the same issue that the OP was describing.

It wasn't like this in the beginning, but somewhere along the way, say 2 months ago, a minimized Altitude stopped rendering anything.

Just to be clear: When Altitude is minimized then maximized, it only renders a black screen, but still works (spawn, fly around, die, ESC menu, etc..). No other game I have come across has ever had this issue on this machine and I have many games =D. Only Altitude can't be minimized successfully.

My guess is that it is conflicting with the color scheme of Windows 7.

My machine:
Windows 7 Ultimate x64
2x 5850 Crossfire
3 Monitors (Alti runs fullscreen on Primary while not Eyefinity)
The rest is good stuff too.

Please try the version at http://nimblygames.com/test/altitude.exe and let me know if it fixes the issue.

Very strange -- I'm guessing you'll have to wait for new video drivers from ATI to fix this.
