Default Too Many Images Slowing Down Editor?

I am making a new map and it already has about 400-500 images in the editor. All in all there are probably only about 40 different images, but a lot of them a repeated many, many times. However, I have noticed that since i have started putting a lot of images into the editor that in general it seems less responsive. By the end the map will probably have 2000-3000 images as planned. Will this not work? Should I start over and plan differently?

lams will need to confirm but my guess is you're exceeding your VRAM and so you're swapping textures in and out (VRAM<->System RAM).

For a little more info to pass along: the images are all generally in the range of 8x8 - 32x32 pixels. So they are very small graphics that are copied and pasted sometimes upwards of hundreds of times.

Small images (e.g. bushes) repeated across the map should be fine, within reason. The editor has never really been optimized so I wouldn't be surprised if there are some performance issues when it's pushed in new ways. Please email the map to support@nimblygames.com and we'll do a quick check to see if things can be sped up.
