Fly plane while chatting
While chatting could you make it possible so I could be able to control my plane?
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- As in when you press "tab" it shows the players names, rank, kills, deaths, etc. When you press "tab" you can still play, as in turn the plane, fire, but chat you have to leave a key down? Why is is like that, and can you make it like when I press "tab"?

Control is disabled when you open the chat window because it is assumed you want to type a message, and typing a message while still having control of your plane could have disastrous results. For example, if I'm about to go for a bomb run, and want to tell my team to attack with me, if I had control of my plane I'd release the bomb if my message had any S's in them, as S is the special weapon button. I've played a game with chat that didn't block player control before, and trust me, it is soooo annoying, you wouldn't believe it :3
Furthermore, its nice to be able to hold left/right, press enter, and have your plane circle while you type. Gives you more time instead of frantically trying to type your message before hitting a wall!

I did think of another solution, could the ai briefly take over whilst you are in chat mode - would make chatting so much easier
** though I see what you mean get the plane in a circle and then go into chat and it stays circling. Last edited by tals; 12-19-2009 at 10:38 AM.

I agree totally with you...It really isnt a good idea to be able to control the plane while chating...Just put the plane into circles!
BUT!!! try to chat and go in circles with a whale (explo)!you WILL crash if you are tiping a bit more than usual

It's true, you can stall out, but the AI is sometimes so unreliable that I really wouldn't want it to take control of my plane. If I really want to crash into dropped walls I can do it myself, thank you very much.

You can circle+chat with Explodet if you first slow down a bit. However, the plane still 'wobbles' slightly, gradually moving to the left or right.
What if the plane were to fly in a perfect circle during circle+chat, iff the player is actively typing? It must still obey the standard stall rules, of course, but the elimination of the gradual sideways migration might make chat-heavy games a bit smoother. Would such a change be beneficial, or would it get abused by campers?

well if you want to say something you either finish the sentence or you discart it. right?
so if you need to tell your team to cover you in a bomb run.. or something else that takes more words... you would have to return to base to safely circle around and be able to chat.... You see thats kindo missing the point. Team chat is great. But it would be nice to just have the arrows enabled so you can: Type 2 words > Adjust where you are flying > Finish the sentence > close chat.

Another idea: allow us to bind some quickchat commands. e.g. you bind 1 to automatically teamchat "Pass the ball!" or whatever.
Certain people would automatically take advantage of that to spam annoying bullcrap, though, so you might need to implement spamming penalties at the same time, e.g. "Your chatting privileges are revoked for the next 60 seconds; reason: spamming".
