6v6 is a great size for BALL. I am happy that that change was made. The maps are going to be key, especially in a Best of One (more on that later) match. TBD vets seem to love maps like woods and despise maps like snow. To us hardcore BALL folks, woods is a disaster of a map. Yes, I understand it was used for the summer league TBD finals, and I know it's a well-designed map for that, but it has plenty of problems as a BALL map (some of which are wide open spaces without obstacles, a spawn point below the goal and below mid-map, a cluster**** top area worse than most, etc.). Some BALL vets have chimed in about maps... listen to what they are suggesting. We tend to congregate around darkwar, mayhem (not mayhem2), and snow. Maze tends to work well but can be too randa-friendly (not necessarily a bad thing). Core is strange for ball, but has potential, as does lostcity. Cave is pretty interesting but can get crowded.

So, about the structure: Best of One in a TBD match makes a lot of sense. Matches are slow, build over time, and can take 20 minutes. A BALL match, on the other hand, is fast-paced and several goals can be scored within a minute or two. Teams need a game or two to "size each other up," whereas in TBD this can happen over the course of the long match. Ideally, BALL should be Best of five, or even longer -- but I tend to favor Best of five. Could we at least go with Best of three and Best of five for the finals?

Thanks for considering... I know the date is coming up soon, but I think if we're really going to make this "The All World 1st Annual Ball Invitational," it should be done right.

6pm GMT is the best compromise that I canf ind. If your team can not make it at this time I apologize but if you Pm me then I can remove you guys from the bracket.

This is a one day only tournament, we are running straight through from start to finish. Rescheduling is only possible for the first round matches, as long as they happen before 6pm EST.
Bo3X10mins + 10mins organizing = approx 40 mins a match. We have 3 servers on the day (I will double check with Maimer if he's still up for setting up his server for the day, if not some games will be slightly delayed).

Soo I just realized that feb 7 is superbowl sunday. That's ok for most games but it will directly clash with the finals. (kickoff Is listed at 6:30PM ET, but it probbly won't happen until 7:15) I don't know about everyone else, but I was kind of hoping to watch the game. Would it be possible, if the teams agree, to reschedule that match? Bo5 with two really good teams might take a while.

A lot of things have changed ... To be honest, I think we can take the tourney without losing more than a couple of games.
Anything can happen though so I'm not gonna bet my life on that, especially since Sammich is indeed a very tough team.

I wouldn't push off ace like that. Don't forget about maimer, ggq, tyr, etc. I know from experience that Maimer and GGQ are excellent ball players and I've seen ACE people in ball here and there. I haven't seen much of my team playing ball as well. I think the match between ACE and || will be the toughest match in the tourney.

The teams in the semi-finals have the option of making it a BO5. Both teams will be asked if they prefer a BO3 or BO5 by me and will PM me their decision. If one disagrees with BO5 it will be a BO3.
