Default Local server going nuts

Okay, I am trying to get a local server up, to play with some friends. But this is really odd...

Sometimes, it goes up without a problem and people are able to join. But mostly, it just says that the server is behind a firewall and only LAN clients are able to join.

But I do not change anything about it, it is like it just don't want to. Running Windows 7 with Bit-defender as AV if anyone have experienced this before. But its more like it just does not want to work, restarting the server sometimes fix it, but not likely.

I am at loss.

Are you trying to get the server up to play with friends on your LAN or on different networks?

A good place to get started would be to read the Wiki Server Manual, the Windows Firewall page, and Maimer's Port Forwarding thread.

Have you set up your firewall and router to allow port forwarding? The UPNP support seems a bit spotty so you might want to try setting it up manually if the server's not working automatically.

I am not using UPNP and I do not need to, this computer goes directly to the modem and out. It says that it is a firewall issue, but I doubt that since it worked before -.-
