1dm ladder server?

What do you think about making a 1dm ladder server? People don't play it often but I bet it would be resurrected if you made one of the ladder servers 1dm, and it seems that both ball or both tbd servers are never used at the same time, so maybe its worth a shot.

Seeing as 1DM is my favorite game mode, I'd fully support this. It can be quite competitive and extremely fun! There aren't many good 1DM servers up at the moment but back in the day New England Deathmatch used to be quite popular. Any chance we could do a test period of a 1DM ladder at some point? Obviously if it would require too much additional coding work then it's not a big deal.

I guess it would be a good idea in the sense that all of the games would be short enough to play a lot more than your typical 15 min. tbd game or 10. min ball game depending on how long that lasts. I would play it since if people just want to play in a ladder environment, but is limited on time, this would be my choice.

I would prefer 1DE. That way we don't get bored waiting for that last repair randa to die.

Anyways I agree with this 1000000000%!!!! This would start reviving the 1dm community and maybe start a 1dm league.

This would be pretty awesome, but please keep it 1dm instead of 1de. Reasonable time limits (3-5 minutes should be sufficient) should keep the matches from getting ridiculous.

to expand on my previous post, everybody loves shooting planes. This is all about shooting planes. Therefore everyone will love a 1dm ladder. It will give a far better idea than tbd ladder about who is the best at shooting planes.

I still think 1DE is the way to go. 1DM encourages running away for repair drone to take effect instead of the pewpew we all love. Also, a timer isn't a good solution because of how easy it is to abuse this. (Team of whales joins, kills one guy and turtles up in the corner spamming all possible entrances for 1 minute. Other team autoloses)

every round people are forced to watch a 5-hour 1v1 between the last trick/repair/ultra and some other guy
I have much more fun playing 1de :<

1dm is my favourite, but it's only fair that I point out the big problems that have been discussed before:

-1dm standard is 95/110, because in a 1-life game cutting out on random spam is imperative. When you've got only one life, losing it to spam is too frustrating. Ladder is supposed to be for everyone, and some people are sensitive to graphical glitches that occur in 95/110.

-A low ping limit is also essential. New England has a 200 ping limit, but even that I wish we could lower. Lag is much more irritating in a 1-life mode about chuting there plains than in TBD where things average out more and deaths don't really matter. Low ping limit means a lot of people can't play.

Regular deathmatch doesn't have these problems as much, and is a really fun under-used game mode. I'd love to see a deathmatch ladder.

As much as I love 1DM, I do agree that TDM would suit itself more to ladder. It also wouldn't result in all decent randa players claiming the top rankings ^^

We all love 1dm, bla bla bla +32 for the idea and stuff...

... but I created a thread a few weeks ago trying to find out how many 1dm clans were out there, and I found there's like 3 or 4 and all of them are in zombie mode to say the least. It seems to me that a 1dm ladder would have a similar fate. Unfortunately.

Also in 1dm ping is more of an issue, meaning that EU players (like myself) would have no interest in such a thing, unless there were US and EU ladder servers.

They still will in TDM. Randas will reign supreme in all ladder modes!

The thing is, 1dm would become popular if it was advertised more. The best server for 1dm is only New England. There are a shortage of 1dm clans because there are not enough servers to play it on. If a 1dm ladder server were created, more people would play it, meaning more people would create clans!

I do agree with you on the problem with ping. I do think that should create a EU and a US ladder server for the general good of the public.
