If you have a team, take it apart, put it back together in the exact same way with the exact same component parts, is it still the same team?

I don't seem to recall being the captain of fLbSS... I also seem to recall gaining a few players and losing a few others ones. Seems different enough to me

No mike if you remember fLbss is team sammiches real name, they were all together when kuja created altitude and then they like wanted to change there name or something so they did i guess. you prob wouldnt remember though

So I've been getting a lot of questions about Lobstars and why we don't get the ole band back together to take a crack at the next APL. So I figure I would answer everything here and now.

Lobstars is dead. And it's not because the players are dead or our spirit is dead, but its because our game is dead.

Lobstars was founded as a counterpart to flb and ace, both of whom ended up being different sides of the same coin. ACE was all about picking up flashy names and putting the best possible 5 players on the field, even if it meant benching someone for 9 games in a row. Flb, lead by the fascist imposter Kuja, is the reason why the competitive Altitude scene is in such shambles now. By using every dirty trick in the book (including pretending to be a girl), flb's game plan largely consisted of taking advantage of legal and moral gray areas in order to gain any edge possible.

Lobstars was different. It was about having fun. It was playing a beautiful game. It was about fielding 5 versatile players who could adapt to any situation. It was never about recruiting the best talent - it was about picking up players who "got it." Players who you would want to have a beer with at an airport. Players who thought Dumb & Dumber was hilarious. It won us a lot of games. It lost us a lot of games.

It's a black mark on this game that the teams that came after that very first APL followed in the footsteps of ACE and fLb. IL took advantage of a talented but 400 ping bomb runner for all of their wins. Sammiches relied on the ACE-like strategies of big names and using their time to practice set pieces (although, since they were a splinter cell of fLb, I have to give them some credit for moving away from Kuja - but then, mikesol did start the dark TA era so they end up as neutral). KLF basically was just fLb lite.

Lobstars couldn't survive in this environment. For every adaptation we made, other teams resorted to tricks and almost outright cheating. For example, fLb began the use of neutral spectators to spot and relegate the enemy's position and powerups to teammates, a practice widely in use today. Lobstars refused. And for that we suffered.

This isn't excuses for why we were never the best. We never were going to be the best. It wasn't in our nature. This is an explanation for why Lobstars is dead. We were killed. By Kuja. By GGQ. By Mikesol. By Ball.

Lobstars is no longer a team. It is just an idea. May it live forever.

Reading posts like these makes me want to have been part of alti a lot sooner. Seems like there was a lot of stuff going on back then compared to the relative quiet now.
