Maybe I am misunderstanding what you are saying, but if you are saying you want to be able to copy one side of the map in the editor, you can already do this. I do this will almost all my maps to ensure that it is an exact mirror.
Simply place all the images, powerups, bases, turrets, etc on one side of the map and then select them all by either dragging your mouse over all of them or by individually clicking on each item (with the shift button depressed). Then simply hit Control-C or go to the menu and select "copy." Now you will have all of those images copied but you need them to be reversed. Zoom out and place them all outside of the maps playable area (this will ensure you don't mess up). Now select all the items you just placed again (by dragging the mouse over them all) and hit the small square on the right side of the yellow box outline. This will horizontally flip all those items. Now you can drag and drop them into place on the correct side of the map. Now all you have to do is change all the turrets, bases, bombs to another team color by selecting them all at the same time and changing the team. An important thing to note when you do this is that all the turrets must be adjusted in terms of their left and right turning radius. So if you had a turret that was 90 right and 35 left, it would have to be changed to 35 right and 90 left. (A by product of the inversion and the program doesn't automatically invert this value, although I wish it did).
Also, just so you know I plan on rewriting the sections in the wiki for making maps one of these days. I will explain all these tricks and tips on making a map from start to finish that will hopefully answer all these types of questions.
