USA v Rest of the World ball rematch?
In early April last year, the USA beat the rest of the world 2-1 in what was some of the best ball matches I have ever witnessed. I think its time we organised the rematch for early april this year.
I'm going to suggest a new format this time round which would compare closest to golfs ryder cup. I propose each team, USA and ROTW elect a captain, who gets to lead the squad of players (possibly up to 10 players) and then selects the players for their respective team when it comes to game time. WE could also include having the top 5-6 players from ladder automatically included in the squad, and then the rest of the players are wildcards, chosen by the captain. The people who would like to apply for the role of captain could give a short statement, giving the reasons why they feel they should captain their team. Each of the top ball clans could then submit their ideal choice of candidate, but are not allowed to pick anyone from their own clan. Now - Saturday March 19th: Invitation to apply as captain of US or World team. Any person can apply for the role of captain. You can only apply as captain of the team you honour. Simply put a quick application statment in this thread. Quick example of an application: Team: World Altitude Name: -={8}=- Dougie Clan History: ICE and -={8}=- Statement: I have loads of altitude experience blah blah blah... I'm amazing, vote for me. Current Applicants USA Clapon Guava Elxir Blln4lyf World Andy mlopes (GUI.tar) Special Sunday March 20th - Sunday March 27th: Voting for captain elections. We can make two separate Poll threads in the forums for both USA and World, winner of each will be elected captain of their respective team. Winner announced 10pm GMT sunday March 27th. Top 6 of ladder from both USA and World are automatically invited to take part in their respective squads. They can refuse to take part, if not interested, in which case the offer is moved to the next highest ranked player in the ladder. Sunday April 3rd: Team announcements. Captains announce full 10 player squad. Including their 6 ladder players and 4 wildcards. Captains are not automatically part of the squad (unless they were in the top 6 ladder ranking or a wildcard). Wildcard players. 2 emergency changes are allowed after this point by either team. Replacements can be treated as wildcard players. (these are to be used only if a player cannot make it to the match, after the match starts, there can be no more changes). Saturday April 9th: The Match (due to the likelihood APL will be scheduled for the sunday, I recommend playing on the saturday). Best of 7. Maps to be confirmed (possible vote?) First 3 games to be played on US server (server tbc) Next 4 games to be played on EU server (server tbc) (As last match was played solely in US server, I recommend majority of games to be played on EU server this time round) The captain doesn't necessarily have to be a great player, but a good tactician, organizer and motivational mumbler/typer. This is just a suggestion, if you have any further ideas, please contribute! Looking at how things have changed since then: Top 6 players in Ball Ladder from April 10': 1. Brillo 2. Nikon 3. a frail old lady 4. drunkguava 5. sky 6. UFO Compared to the top 6 as of now: 1. Val 2. VipMattMan 3. a frail old lady 4. shmo 5. ball'n 6. Pata frail has obtained a level of consistency unprecedented in ladder it seems  This would be fun, there has been talk of another rematch before but nothing has ever materialized.. But seeing as how the "official" ladder season ended almost a year ago, it would be awesome to celebrate the 1 year anniversary with another match like this Maybe have it a bo5 or bo7 for more epicness, and a TBD rematch could be played immediately after or before on the same day as well.

Altitude Name: Clapon Clan History: Lead Twisted, tVo Statement: I have been a leader for twisted with my bro goose bringing together a great group of guys and having success in leagues and friendships I also spent a lot of time on tVo helping quite a bit behind the scenes helping the new clan get on its feet and become dominate and when the capts. werent there i was usually the one to set up line ups and such in scrims. I know my **** about ball, ball comps, and the ball players. I can put behind any bias i have for this prestigious position. I can make any time as im quite flexible and have plenty of time to help the team setup and get ready for the big game vote for me!

since the players that would be playing in the rematch achieved their spots by playing in ladder, shouldn't the rematch itself be hosted in the ladder servers to provide the most accurate rematch possible? i'm sure people would be ok with temporarily stopping ladder to let the matches play, and admins would most likely be present to assign the teams and whatnot. Just a thought
