![]() I think we all here agree that altitude is a great game and a solid product, the only problem I see when looking at the future is amount of players. Then, since the product is good, we need more marketing to get more players, more fresh ideas, more guys spreading the game, more top clans, more fun! So, here's my suggestion: 1) Where's the fkng donation button? - Make a donation option! I paid 10€ (if I remember well) for that game and I've play a lot! I would've paid 20€ without a doubt and I would donate when I feel like just because it entertains me a big amount of time, regular games cost 50 bucks and last 14hours at best! 2) After step 1 is done: - Make a donation option called; Donation to marketing the game. The money there is invested into advertising the game. That's an indirect way to donate to devs since the money from the sells, product of the advertising, is going to devs anyway. So donation page could have 3 tabs, for Devs and for Marketing purpose or split between two options. I believe that this "donation to marketing the game" could have a higher success than regular donation method. Also, there's a program called Humble indie bundle, that offers a pack of good indie games at any price chosen by the customer. Maybe you guys could talk with them to put altitude in the next bundle and get a bit of money and a lot of new players with it. Amount of players create positive synergies. On a final note devs should put more effort on that matter on their own, not only players. |

I agree with the donation button, I got alti in a steam sale for like £4, I would gladly donate another £10.

I feel important because the game was 20 euros when I bought it. Heh
I'd be glad to donate another 20 though ! I support this idea.

If you would like to donate, then consider the following:
Buy 2 alternate accounts. Level them up to level 60 on a different internet connection, never using more than one account on the same internet connection. Now get really really really good at the game and secure the #1, 2 and 3 slots in ball/tbd ladder with your accounts. Change the name of your accounts to [any name of a well known player will do] IS BAD and screenshot it on the ladder page. Sure your accounts will be banned from ladder once an admin sees it, but much lulz were had and you supported Nimbly, so all is good. Alternatively, they could just add a tip jar as suggested in the OP. Last edited by Evan20000; 05-27-2011 at 12:03 AM. |

Personally I was thinking of buying 11 new computers and 11 more accounts, and reviving R!BZ by playing them all at once. Sure my trolling wouldn't be as good, but it's better than nothing. |

Yeah, although i loll'd at the troll posts, mssv is right - sadly the marketing of Altitude has been pretty piss poor (sorry devs), and what on earth do you have to lose from mssv's suggestions?
It is very rare to find a MMO indie game this darn good, why not give it the chance to be the 'best' it can be? Also if you spend the time to actually learn your demographic you then have a starting point. Should Altitude be cutesy? Answer imo absolutely yes, and its just this that widens your demographic even further. Having a product that is in no way offensive is a big plus. |

Donate button indeed. And you've got a great game here, but you didn't utilize the possibilities to get some cash flowin'. (paying for skins/hats instead of community points?)
More players = more fun (64 man football excluded/included kinda) = more cash = everyone happy. Make it work like you did with the game. |

Yes.
But you have to understand, this type of thing has been brought up dozens of times and the devs showed no interest in spending a lot of time on marketing. AFAIK. |

I might chip in a bit to buy a skin or two, maybe $3 or $5 if they were very epic. Heck, might even see some clans out there buy skins and use them like uniforms. Would be kinda cool.

Well, if were them i would be seriously looking at using the Altitude engine in Unity, that way they'd only have to program it once for multiple platforms. They already have implemented controller support so why not?
I could see Altitude going down a storm on Wii-ware and not to mention Facebook. Anyways, just my 2 cents. If anything, it has just spurred me on to be involved in making a game that has the essence of Altitude in the future. Having said that though i hope the devs beat me to it |

Don't really have a good comeback atm, so I guess the best I can do is permaban you from ladder until I think of one.

Can I contact to meristation.com, the reference in terms of videogames for Spain and Latin America, so they make a review of the game? But it would be better if it's Nimble who does that it would be more chances to them to review it.
They have nothing about altitude, they usually have records for a huge list of games, if there's no review from them they just have some pics and links to web and some comments from readers but for altitude they have nothing at all. |

Altitude sure is a solid product but with the amount of players it has and the lack of marketing the game won't get going. About the donations, good idea, but I think just a dozen donations is by far not enough. Also, you should consider the market of games of this kind is not very big. Kids nowadays discard this game saying 2D ROFL NOOBGAME IMA PLAY COD WITH NICE GRAPHICS!! Only if you've been playing for a while you can really see the strength this game has. People who actually start playing often don't stay for long or become inactive owing to the sad amount of players and thus competition. I'd suggest the devs to invest in the game, licence it for free for a while, integrate a ladder and a system that makes the hassle of clans and formal matches easier. I think it would be good to get a weekly/monthly league going. It would make everything more alive IMO. Lastly, perhaps introducing this game to South Korea would do good. That country loves e-sports and proving themselves in it and they look a lot less at 3D and graphics and a lot more at gameplay than the West.

IMO: The ladder is fine as is, I don't have any problems with organizing scrims and you might want to introduce this game into EVERY country you get the chance for. Furthermore: The steam events went wrong because everyone got the impression that altitude is a big spamfest (the buttloads of football servers really f-ed it up). My tips: - Altitude Mobile will really, REALLY catch on. If you can make it so that I can play altitude on my cellphone while I'm travelling with the train or w/e you'll be in for the big bucks. - Another thing like the steam events, only make sure you've got a lot of good basic servers running with ball and tbd (and possibly co-op servers lolol )

A cellphone version of Altitude in which you can play multiplayer that would work: I know what I'd be doing on my way home and to school
![]() About S Korea, that is THE country to quickly develop a scene around an interesting game, whether it be beautiful or old and ugly. Last edited by Knipchip; 05-31-2011 at 05:07 PM. |
