EMP is actually perfect as it is now, acid needs a really slight buff to bring it up to par with EMP. Something like decreased cooldown or slightly bigger radius could work.

seriously, every ****ing plane has been nerfed what's happened? I suggest we make EMP fully automatic, reduce the energy cost down to 1/5th, double the splash radius, and last for a full 30 seconds.

Duel Fire Flak HC Remote Thermo Trick Laser Time Anchor Maybe we should just give very small buffs to tracker, acid, director, dombs and the non HC bips? |

I feel that acid could use a cooldown or energy usage buff tbh. Yeah you can spam it, but you can't use your tracker missiles in conjunction with it like you can with emp, which is super annoying when switching between the two perks.

Fun fact about acid: If you watch closely when one of your acid clouds explodes, the little canister thing you shot out will break apart into little glass chunks. These chunks will then interact with the environment very realistically according to the laws of physics, by bouncing/rolling off obstacles and planes.
I'm assuming that Karl was solely responsible for implementing that, since he is the brains behind Altitude, and Lam probably isn't smart enough to code something so complex and intricate...But its the little things like that which make me <3 this game |

I think it would be interesting if acid took down a specified % of health, rather than doing a specified amount of damage. i.e. if it always took 33% of total health. This would make it a better counter to heavy planes, which I always think I bloody hard to kill with loopy, whilst not making it too strong versus lights. At the moment it takes an acid and 2 missiles to kill a randa, so you only need to have them in your sights for the refire time of a single missile (first shots take 0 seconds), I think if it was any stronger it would be too good against lights.

How would making acid deal a percentage damage make it OP? Atm it does seem like a bazooka vs lights and a peashooter vs heavies. The damage enhancer notwithstanding, but it costs so much energy anyways that you can barely spam missiles.

Wait- total health percentage AND armor reduction on a perk that exists in an area for 2-3 secs and can have 2 clouds at once? Sure its not going to get lots of kills by itself but it definitely has a role in team play- soften big planes up for nades/hc. I do understand the reasoning: it isn't used as much effectively in TBD as in ball.
Regarding EMP: I understand that its the anti-randa, but holy **** there's nothing as annoying as starting a turn with a whale when an emp hit comes out of nowhere and you slam into the floor because you can't turn or speed up or slow down. Even with that and the fact you can't afterburn and your energy becomes depleted after 1 mine I still think its more annoying that it is OP. Does it need a slight tweak? Probably? Do I think it should have one? No, not at all. Even in the presence of EMP, randa has been slapped so hard with the nerf stick over the past year. |

Why nerf the thing that counters mirandas?
I play emp in ladder a lot cuz there is always 2 or even 3 randa players there! imo this game is well balanced, i just rage at the fact that randas can get infront of the bomb runner or avoid things while warping and doing damage. Last edited by mled; 06-18-2011 at 05:08 PM. |

it dominates in the sense that having a TA drastically alters the flow of the game and how the defending team has to position themselves, but it's not drastically overpowered like it is in ladder. having a strong team that can push for the TA and defend easy 1v1 situations is much more important than the TA itself.

The reason i think randas in general is a little op is just because it can catch up to so many planes far aways with quick warps and it does quite a bit of damage.

EMP should be 1,25 seconds duration instead of 2 or make it cost same energy as acid or increase it coldown to 2 secs.

HC -> 8 to 10 shots limit then back to base to recharge main weapon Laser -> shrink it to 2/3 of its lenght Acid needs a small buff |

Acid is the only plane (I'm coming from a ball background btw) that conceivably needs a buff. For someone of a high enough skill level who can be an effective ball mover, acid just doesn't cut it compared to emp.
The only conditions under which I play acid are when 1) My team already has at least one GOOD emp loopy (or 2 crap ones) 2) I am not needed to score goals or move the ball because we have 2 or more good forwards 3) It's a good acid map (lostcity, funnelpark, ice, core) Or occasionally when there's a pro TA (donk) on the other team and nobody can kill him. |
