before you guys go up in arms (or up in SHUT UP AND TAKE MY MONEY), kolobos has already very kindly offered his eu servers to use. I will be putting altitude ladder on it this weekend and trying it out so stay tuned.

I'd be in favour of no EU ladder servers. Too much ****ing lag, I have worse lag on those damn EU servers than the euros have on ladder 3.

I don't, but if EU is up then ladder 3 is not and it is terrible. EU is up way too much.

EU is up when EU players start it and are in majority. When it's time for our freaky sleepovers, US ladder starts.

See how that is fantastic and actually works?

The problem is that EU ladder is still up when there are 80% North Americans in the server. I've seen EU ladder games when there are 10 out of 12 with pings over 100. It's a dreadful server and stays up far past when it should.

i've seen games where there's 20/26 EU players on an American server. Before there were EU servers. I think that's an improvement.

If there are 80% US, it's their own fault for not switching servers.

this. as much as i hate euro ladder, it's your own responsibility to switch. most people are just too dumb to actually notice that there's only 1 person playing with good ping.

>D I believe there is a current ping of players sent by the server periodically. If it sees over 75% of players selected for a game with over 125ms ping, the server refuses to start the game. It should also say you need more pylons, as it is the networking method of choice for better ping. (no, it isn't going to happen, but its still funny thing think about)

With the intercontinetal rage aside...

What's going on with EU ladder? I thought it was being hosted else where before being taken down? Now we are stuck without any EU ladder again :[

The end of the month hit and phong's server is no longer available. Am working on getting kolobo's server up, hang tight (might be a day or two)

Any chance we can get the match/server times fixed in all of this? It's both hard to tell when ladder's actually running by looking at the site, and difficult to chart how you're doing, with matches mixed up like they are.

The IRC chat room has a bot that announces when ladder becomes active. There is also a second room that announces outcomes of games as they happen, which can also tell you if a game is currently active.

Unfortunately the server doesn't seem to be able to start any ladder games, all votes pass but nothing happens.

Not sure what kind of news you guys are expecting

The situation is pretty simple.

- Ladder is not sponsored by Nimbly Games, it's privately hosted (meaning paid for) server by one or more generous individuals of the community.

- US ladder is hosted by Phong (?) and he pays for the server while Nobo (+ few others) admin it by uploading their ladder modifications.

- Asking someone in the US to host a server in EU so we in the EU get better pings is a bit ridiculous (unless it has absolutely zero cost for them).

Possible Solutions to get EU ladder:

- Someone in EU gets a server and gives Nobo access to their server (probably root access) to host ladder on it.

- Pool in money and one person takes charge and hosts a server in EU and give Nobo access to it to host ladder.

A decent server would probably cost about 15-25 Euros per month.

My plan was to take the EU server down at the end of February which I had done, but ended up extending it 2 weeks to allow more time for the transition to a new host.

As for the state of the transition to the new host I'm unsure, but I do know nobo has been working on it.

4 new EU ladder servers are up and running.
Please test them out.
I will maybe change IP later, because I have ping 105 instead of 85, and it's important that I have a good ping, right?
And probably max player count as well.
