Sky League Finals Commentary

Thought I'd give the heads up that I am planning on commentating for the Sky League finals in the Altitude mumble server. I've had a few people in the past suggest commentating to me since I tend to do a little while I'm specced playing ball ladder. As t3c knows I do a good amount of research for league matches and I'll apply some of that throughout the match, so expect plenty of statistical analysis. If all goes well I might try to do more of them.

i believe twisted duck is recording the games with his own solo commentary, and ex, unbreak and myself made plans to do a more light-hearted commentary where we just make fun of dyke for 2 hours which i will upload myself. mumble has a built-in recording function so i'm sure someone could record/upload threevenge's commentary and you can just run it while having TD's or my own video on mute.

if the fox sports panel doesn't come into fruition, i would gladly record threevenge's commentary with video.

I won't be recording the games. I had to reformat my hard drive recently so I don't have any recording software outside of xsplit. I could test to see if streaming would be a good option if that would be preferred but if I can't stream it then I'm just going to not record it.

I would if my computer had a little more power, as it is the framerate wouldn't be passable. Also, Fox would be more appropriate for unbreakable and sunshineduck, mine will be more like NBC

I did a test stream earlier and I was getting 45-50 FPS on Alti. I don't think I'll stream it unless no one else is going to record Threevenge's commentary. His commentary is too legendary to pass up.

Loving all the support and enthusiasm on this. Was talking to Aki today and it seems like he should be able to record it with FRAPS. Got about a page worth of notes for each team put together today, probably another page worth for each team tomorrow.

I can record the games with OBS or Xsplit if you can't find anyone.

Note that I'm looking at 50 or 60 fps at half HD size. Recording at HD I'm getting major frame lag.

Most streaming website can also save what is streamed right?

http://nl.twitch.tv/ for example afaik, i think thats the easiest way, and also ppl can watch it live without starting alti and no need to upload/render your vids

That was bbq vs arr right? Those games were intense i remember. Arr in that point in time were simply unbeatble, but we came close.

I record most of my videos and upload at 60fps and yes youtube converts it to 30 but it should be fine.
Not sure about Half size on fraps, i think it lowers down the quality drastically.

If fraps doesn't work for you, you can try other softwares like dexterity,banicam.

Just pointing out that there is no point in recording in 60 fps when there is no forum to distribute it. Recording at 30 fps requires less processing power.
...that is, unless you want to keep your super smooth 60 fps vids to yourself. Or upload somewhere where people can download 'em.

True but if your recordings are already 60, just render them at 60fps as i've noticed it takes longer for me to render it at 30fps than 60.

So correct me anyone if I'm wrong but with the PMs I received here's what we're looking at: Aki will record the games.
I will commentate with possibly Xorg and Dougie joining me.
If things go well we might have lako edit it.

Does this seem correct?

If so, I'd like those involved to show up at least 20 minutes prior to finals so we can get organized. Might end up using the recording for my journalism portfolio so I'd like to talk and get a plan set up so it runs smoothly.

I might be interested in getting involved as well. I used to do weekly league videos for a similar game (example: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CN-3X6SN2Bo).

To reduce redundancy, I would just put together a highlight video somewhat like the linked video above, probably with Threevenge's commentary.

For those who didn't see the play-off thread the SL Finals have been scheduled for 3 EST/ 7 GMT. I will try to start commentating about 10 or 5 minutes beforehand. Should have plenty of material with the amount of preparation done.

For those who missed the steam, click here to see the majority of it. I had a lot of fun commentating with DDP throughout the match and would do it again. For those who view the commentary please let me know what could be improved upon, what was good, just anything you thought.
