I noticed this a couple weeks back but another post on the forums reminded me of this issue. When trying to change your name the system won't allow you to change the capitalization of your name because it will say that the name is already taken.
So for example if your name is: Joe123 and you want to change to: JOE123 it won't let you do it. I suggest either letting people switch the capitalization of their name at any point or to simple allow them to change the capitalization once every 24 hour period. As it stands right now the only solution is to do something like this: Joe123 -> Joe1234 -> JOE123. So you have to use some intermediate which then leaves your original name open for hijacking for a 24 hour period (or more). |

good point--I think the idea of case insensitivity is important, so we don't end up with wiseguy and Wiseguy and so forth, but there does need to be a way to change capitalizations. Seems like kind of a catch 22

It seems pretty simple to keep case insensitivity and still allow the changes. If you are requesting a capitalization change and it is saying the name is already taken, the system should be able to detect if you are the one that is holding the name and then allow the capitalization change once that check has been made.
