Here's another question for you. I've already sent a PM to Start to schedule a match but I have yet to hear anything. If you've made the effort to communicate with the opponent but they haven't responded in return, would this count as a forfeit?

Here's what I did: PM'ed the person, added them as a friend in-game by using the AltBouncer Vapor ID database, and then lucked out because they were on at that time. I would say if you do those two steps and don't hear back from them by Sunday night (?), it's a forfeit.

It looks like there is only one server (New England Duel) with duel maps. Can we -- at least for practice sake -- have those maps added to additional servers?

Edit: and New England Duel doesn't even have 1dm! Sorry, not meaning to complain... I know you guys are on it.

The New England Duel server does have 1dm, the maps just still have the prefix "obj" as that was how 1dm maps used to be identified.

You will never add anyone by inserting their name. You can add people by inserting their vapor id or e-mail they used to create their account.

Thats not true, it was changed in a recent patch so you could add people by typing in their name.

And I really hope A.Arshavin responds to my PM because I rarely see him in-game. A forfeit is a win, sure, but I'd rather duel!

I also want to say -- perhaps for future tournaments -- that it seems that a prerequisite ought to be that players who sign up are active on the forums. I don't mean that they are posting in various threads, but they need to check their PMs before/during tournament time, read/subscribe to the tournament thread, and basically be in communication with the tournament organizer and the players who are involved.

It sounds like some people were signed up by others in-game and then there were questions about whether those people would show up. If you make registration based on forum participation, it might reduce that problem.

well many DW members hardly ever visit the forums, but they knew about the tourney from the other members. Although they're not forum regulars, that doesn't say anything about their show up probability, which is 100%.

The problem actually isn't so much with people "showing up," as it is with people not being able to schedule matches in the first place. How do you show up for a match that hasn't been scheduled because the members aren't checking their PMs?

Exactly - I agree with the above. You have to schedule it one way or another and the only place to do so without going through an intermediary or being online at the same time is through these forums. If you register via this forum, you really need to check it regularly.

Of course, this is somewhat lost considering the people who need to read it don't check the forums....
