No, I more or less agree. The thing is, having only 9 people choose the candidates for each category didn't seem particularly utilitarian to me. The whole process could change in the future, but my aim was to give everyone a fair shot. So far, people don't seem to have too many problems choosing their nominees.

Voted the other day but have to say this is...

I put my vote in (maybe) 5 or 6 categories - for those were the things i was sure about from what i saw/experienced. I bet most people wont act this way...

Is it fair to vote for the best bomb runner if one didnt saw all runs? - Ow, you saw best teams runs! IMO, the team runs, and make the hit possible. The better the team the easier the runner job! Not an easy balance to judge here...

just to add my 2 cents - imho such awards as best multikill and funniest moment should be taken away. 12 teams started the league, which means in the beginning we had 144 players signed up for APL, but servers are only 24 spectators big....This means - that those funny moments saw maximum 24 players (a moment is just 1 second)...I'm totally sure - the majority doesn't even know what happened there.

The may be mentioned for all the team awards (like best/worst game)...but well - there at least ppl could change servers and we may expect 30-40 ppl really watching the game.

In comparison to these two types of nominations - deciding the best plane/team player is considerably easier, simply because the possibility of actually seeing the player is bigger.

The exception here (in such consistent-type votes) is the nomination of the "most benched player" - who on earth except for the teams themselves may know who's the most benched player? As an example I may name Scythrop from DW, who was online every single match DW had - but played only like once (thus he benched like 10 times in the league). Why is Scythrop not in the nomination list? - simply because noone can define the most benched player - noone sees them. This is a type of a nomination, which may look nice - but is impossible to implement (altitude has no TV coverage, nor does it have analytical programs on every tv channel or newspaper - to actually realize such things).

PS: Mandrad, well you have a point (the better the team, the easier for the bomb runner) - but it's in every part of the life this way (sports, entertainment, politics) - so by voting we should forget about this variable and simply go by own's subjective consideration. It is especially easy in the tournament, when every team had an opportunity to see every single bomb runner themselves.

I don't think Shifty intended everyone to watch every game, I think he intended everyone to vote as they saw fit, from their own personal experience. I mean, it's not like the Nobel Prize, you don't win anything if you get Best Bomb runner or whatever. This was just done for fun, this whole game is just for fun, the point of APL is to have fun through competitive play.

If this was a Starcraft tourney and there was actual money on the line then I'd be inclined to agree, but it's Altitude. This poll is just a nice little diversion for the community.

Just to clarify, I more or less copied the categories over from Mled's page. Of course, there were certain categories that I debated dropping, but I figured someone will probably be entertained by each one of them. If certain categories are less popular, than perhaps they won't be included next time. But for the most part, as a few people have already touched upon, you basically use your own judgment when voting. You aren't going to see every bomb run, but you are, as Tosconi mentioned, going to play every team. Hopefully, you should get a good sense of each team's runner when you play them. Something like "Most Benched" is more of a joke category. If you have someone in mind, fill it in, otherwise, leave it blank. So, basically, tl;dr -- what Hurri said.

In general though, APL superlative voting would be easier to implement if Altitude were a much bigger game. Then, there would be a demand for more spectator spots. Every match would be recorded. People would just have a better sense of the teams and players around the league outside of their own team. But for now, we make do with what we have!
