Also, it helps more when people are less criticizing, and more helpful by offering plausible suggestions. I am listening to the suggestion of not having rounds this week and no one other then SSD has even tried to offer another suggestion, but instead just criticize my decisions.

my suggestion: stop skipping weeks

as has always been the case with tournaments, barring major (christmas, mikesol's birthday) holidays, the games go as scheduled. the onus is on the team who can't/doesn't show up with adequate members to reschedule, if the other team is willing.

If this was a situation where 1 team could not show up, I see your point, but I have been told 3 teams cant make this weekend. Meaning 2 of the 3 would automatically be out of the tournament.

Yes it solves the problem with this dilemma, but what is the point of playoffs or any league if the games aren't played. I don't just want to take a forfeit or anything and rescheduling becomes a problem when say yes t3c and bbq play but vlix and SBDHFBS cant this still puts the whole time in a hole since whoever wins that match will have to wait a week plus whatever time it takes to complete that match anyways.

This post season has been poorly managed. It shouldn't be this difficult to figure out whether a week got postponed or not. Either make an announcement thread in the league section announcing the postponing or make an official looking post in this thread as well as updating the first post. Come on admins- you can do it.

First off...I am like the only one doing anything (no offense to andy or anyone) (this is my first SL admining).

Second off, I don't think it is poorly managed, how is wanting to make it the best experience for the majority not managing it well. 10% of the people may not like the decisions that are made, but nothing is perfect. This is probably the first SL or APL where things have been up well before match times consistently. We can go back to not telling anyone anything til the day of if that suits everyone better.

Edit: Sorry I am annoyed by this whole thing. As I pointed out earlier, this is not a professional sport, this is a game. So I think it is best that we finish the games when people can show rather then saying oh we are playing games this week and 3 teams who cant show well too bad. I also, really don't understand why pushing back a week is such a big deal in the end. Is there some large thing that people have going on in the world that I don't know about that if we push the season back one more week it will never get finished?

our collective suggestion is that we stop skipping weeks because of arbitrary weak-ass reasons like "father's day" and "gotta watch some soccer man"

optimally we could just have every team attempt to show up and if one team doesn't have 6 just reschedule the match. nobody in these playoffs that i know other than ball'n would take a forfeit, and he would only do it if he thought there was a 0% chance that his team would win. on a related note, his team was undefeated in the regular season.

but nop, we have to skip because "hey i asked a few members of my team and they said they probably couldn't be there, and we really don't want to have to play the terrible players we have riding our bench that show up every week to watch so can we just skip this week because father's day?"

I'm not debating whether or not father's day or soccer are good reasons to not show up, I'm just asking that given the fact that half of the remaining teams couldn't, was there actually a better alternative than skipping a week? I suppose you could have all 3 sets of teams reschedule, but honestly, would that work out before the following Sunday?

Idk how to multiquote (ikr I'm a noob) but there's another quote back there by raisin for vlix. Being on vlix myself I know from our forum that we only had 3 people who could show, 2 maybes, and 2 not heard from. So vlix was a definite no.

And this is a quote from DN from the bottom of page 2: "it really isn't fair to have the three euro teams not be able to show on sunday and make them all forfeit" (so I assume this means he received a negative from arr as well)

Tbh it just bothers me that everyone's giving DN crap for rescheduling when it really doesn't hurt anyone.

Ok this is a past issue, there is no reason why we would need to skip this week nor is there any reason to continue this conversation when no one is bringing up valid and new topics about this matter. Again, no one answered why skipping a week in the middle of the summer for the tournament is bad, but anywho no need to qq about anymore. I am busy tonight, but I will post the new rounds and info tomorrow.

And yes, I was also told by arr that they would have had a hard time showing up, and since arr played ball, vlix played us, and t3c played bbq then no matches would have likely been played unless the 3 us teams were "feel free to use whatever word you feel like describes this situation the best here"

i'm not arguing that i know the other team's ability to attend, but i fail to see a reason why you can't just tell your team to show up if they can and then reschedule if you don't have 6 at gametime. that is how APL used to be run, and even when IL was run by york we never had to skip two weeks during a season. any weeks skipped were for major holidays, not the weak ass excuses that we've had so far.

i don't think it's too much to ask to just play the goddamn playoffs. i find it pretty ridiculous that before we play this coming sunday we will have played matches on exactly one day in the past twenty eight. while it's not the worst thing in the world, it's more than a minor inconvenience when you can't even tell your team when to show up with any kind of consistency, as well as the fact that i have to keep pretending to care about the outcomes of the matches for an extenuating amount of time. it should be easy - tell your team to show up every week, if you don't have enough at gametime then reschedule.

@MJ: Vlix has about 13 people in it. There were also 6 people who said they could not come who were irrelevant to the point I was making (that we could not field 6)

@SSD: Oh please, don't give me the guilt trip about "me making DN's life hard because I don't show up." No need to make this personal, we all know that my showing up has nothing to do with the fact that 3 entire teams cannot field 6 players on a day. I couldn't care less about the euro cup. What I care about is that no games could have been played because of the people who DID care about the euro cup. And although people are doing a whole lot of
complaining about how long the playoffs are taking, I haven't heard a single reason why that matters other than something along the lines of "I wish people didn't like soccer so much."

IMO in future tourneys the admin should list the scheduled dates of play in the signup post and give people until a certain point in time before the tourney starts to report any major holidays/sporting events that may cause greatly reduced overall participation. It'd be up to the admin to determine whether those events were important enough to add a bye week.

Then the official dates would be listed at the start of the tournament, and be unchangeable. Any missed games would have to be made up in the week leading up to the next games, or forfeit.

There are plenty of people in the community to keep clans active, and a clan's exclusivity and subsequent unreliability shouldn't be anyone else's burden. There's always another tourney in 6 months.
