Ahh! This is the thread, I've been looking for!

I was interested in recording footage and commentating what I see. But I'm not quite sure what I need nor the programs required to do it, could you help me out?


(I love your videos and commentaries and have been following them for awhile!)

I use Fraps (on windows only I believe) to record stuff. It works very well.
Then I encode with Virtualdub and upload on youtube.
I also use Virtual Audio Cable to get both my microphone and stereomix in a single audio line so I can record both (sometimes a good sound card can do this but mine sucks so I have to go through this).

Sounds complicated but it isn't really. Takes some time to encode and upload but that's pretty much it.

Cool stuff Tyr. Only watched the first vid but if I may make a quick suggestion: it'd be nice if you used your co-commentators as your TAB function to tell you who is playing what and etc. As the camera, you should be focused on the action.

Otherwise, great vids. I'll finish them up after work.

That's actually a very good suggestion.
I think people like to see the score from time to time when there isn't much happening so that's why I show it, but I'll keep this in mind. Maybe i can tab less.

I like to see plane composition and score while i watch videos (i actually end up pressing tab myself from time to time lol).

Yeah SSD did a really good job.

It's a shame I had to delete game 2 though, as we talked about a lot of stuff during that game.
I really need to come up with some kind of good solution for the next season if Core is played.

i would have liked to have hit puberty before casting APL (my voice probably cracked twelve times on core, good thing it got deleted) but it was definitely a lot of fun! my pipes are definitely not suited for talking for 45 minutes at a time though, ^^

thanks tyr for letting me be on, hopefully there's an apl for you to cast next season

I kind of missed the core game in there as well because it was one of the 2 maps (together with middleground) which we should have won. I would have loved to hear your commentary on that game =\.

(by the way, does turning parallax to false maybe decrease the space core takes?)

I don't think it does but for me it gives me around 5-10 fps more
