Game Crash on Exit; Cannot Download Maps

Not sure if I should post these issues in the same post, so let me know if that would be better and I can create a new post for the download issue.

#1 - Game Crash on Exit:
For the past month or so my game has crashed about 80% of the time I attempt to exit the game. Once it crashes the only way to clear it up is to Ctrl+Alt+Del and terminate the application. However even that does not terminate the altitude.exe process. Attempting to terminate the process results in nothing. So, in order to run Altitude again (or any other Steam game or even exit Steam) I need to reboot my computer. I've tried clicking the exit button, using alt+x and using alt+f4 to exit the game with the same results. Needless to say this is really annoying.

I've attempted the following to attempt a fix without much success:

1. Rebooting, obviously.
2. Reinstalling altitude (and deleting all remaining files)
3. Reinstalling Steam (except the Applications folder).
4. Disabled all Avast! shields before playing
5. Disabled windows firewalls before playing
6. Ran Altitude in Windows XP compatability mode (I'm running Win 7).

None of these permanently fix the problem; it may work on the first replay but seems to break within 3 launches or so (and some fail the 1st time as well).

Any thoughts?

#2 Maps not Downloading
This is a more recent problem... This seems to NOT be an issue for the first map I join when I launch the game... However, as soon as there is a map change it won't load, often even if I HAVE the map. It says it's downloading and won't actually download. I can leave the server, try to rejoin (or join another server) and any map won't load. The solution is to relaunch the game (which given my other issue requires a reboot).

Having to reboot after every map change is painful - help.

Here's my most recent attempt to play which resulted in both issues. Thread 16 is where I couldn't download the map; 17 & 18 were attempts to rejoin/join another server (with the same result). Game crashed on exit.

Have you tried the standalone version from http://altitudegame.com/download.html ? Does it exhibit the same hang on exit behavior?

lamster, I just tried and had both issues arise on the 2nd launch.

Launching from the file directory as opposed to a steam interface seems to be on a roll w/o crashing or stalling on map changes (~6 times now).

Too afraid to try it from the steam interface again, but I suppose something else may have changed without my knowledge and fixed it there too.

I m lso having problem in downloading maps...... when i play in a server and the next map has been voted .... the downloading screen shows up nd dosent download the map at all
Some server having like football maps open ;p
