OS X 10.10 Yosemite
Hi so I installed Yosemite yesterday on my Mac and to play Altitude I had to download Java again (which I guess doesn't come bundled with the OS). The game works and is playable but I've noticed that I'm losing frame rate a little, especially when flying and the map behind me is scrolling. I've never noticed this before and now it's just that little bit less fluid to add to my always bad ping.
Anyone else notice this on Yosemite? |

the problem is that without steve jobs, apple products will progressively worsen with each version

What I'm kind of curious about is why do we have to download Java 6 to play o.O?

You could install the Oracle java if you wanted. Altitude is programmed in java so it requires a JVM.
You have to download it because Apple stopped supporting Java back around OSX 10.8 so they no longer ship it w/ the OS like they used to. |

Installed Yosemite yesterday on my mid-2013 MacBook Air. Installed Java 8 (Oracle) and my framerate is fine, perhaps better than ever.
Make sure you're installing the correct version of Java for your particular model. |

Soneji,
I found that after updating to Yosemite, my internet in general was much slower and I was constantly losing connection in Altitude games. Try a PRAM reset. I had done the System Management Controller reset a few times which worked for a day or so, but after doing the PRAM reset about a week ago, I haven't had a problem & my connection is much better since. It's totally safe, quick, and easy to do. |

Thanks, Kaf.
Those instructions seem specific to a MacBook; I'm running a mid-2010 iMac. Tried a clean install of Yosemite and still had issues with frame rate. What seems to have worked was changing the resolution and full-screen settings, then changing them back (1920x1020, full-screen selected). Now I'm getting 180 FPS. Is that even possible? Before updating OS I had ~60. |
