Default Introducing: ALTILINKS 2.0

I recently introduced "Altitude Links" A concept of what the actual application "ALTILINKS" would be like. Over the past few weeks I have been working on making this concept I call "Altitude Links" an actual Application.

Let's Talk about the new version of ALTILINKS.

Well now instead of the files being based as a "Internet Web Location" they are now actual Applications. Much work has been put into this, and much more work still needs to be done, this is version 1.0 We estimate version 2.0 to be out soon, but we need to make it a new version worthy, I am sure with all of the input we hope to receive, it will be.

As I have explained, my goal is to make links to various "Altitude" websites easy to access. If there are links you would like to be able to access from your desktop or "doc" then just suggest or post your thoughts, and I will do my best to add you ideas and suggestions.

All of your thoughts and ideas will make this a great application, while it is simple and small, I appreciate all of you that have expressed you thoughts.

Quote:
Requirements:
-Mac OS X 10.4, 10.5, or 10.6
-Both ALTILINK Folders

Instructions:
-Put "folders names" on Desktop.
(Note: ALTILINKS Will not run properly if "Folder Name" is not
on the desktop.)

-Place all contents of "folder name" in to your doc. Or you can
just drag "folder name" on the far-right side of your doc, were
folders are usually kept.

-Click the Application to whichever website you wish to visit,
and the website should open up in whatever browser is default
on your computer.

Download:
-Copy of ALTILINKS
Please Note: that ALTILINK runs by itself. Prodding shouldn't be
necessary, meaning that once you click the application to whatever website you are trying to access, your cursor on screen will move to the appropriate folder and click the link. The only thing necessary for you to do, is to go to "folder name" and click the website you want to visit.

Well that about wraps it up, if there are questions you have about ALTILINK, please don't hesitate to ask. If you have suggestions on making ALTILINK better, please, once again, post all of your thoughts. We will do our best, as said before, to answer your questions, and add your suggestions to ALTILINK

Version 2.0 Concept

Quote:
What we plan for the next version of ALTILINK to have:

-A menu of all the links accessible from you mac "Menu Bar"

-A Faded window that you can resize and put in the corner of your screen. Example:

Small Window Concept

-Self Launched at Login
That about explains what we are trying to shoot for in the next version of ALTILINK . Please, if you have tips on how to do things, please voice them. If you want to help out with ALTILINK in any way, just PM me. If you notice a BUG or a problem with ALTILINKS please let me know so I can fix it right away! Several people asked already if they could help, which makes me appreciate all of you Altitudians!

On each reference to ALTILINKS you will notice that they are bold and linked. That very link will take you to download your copy of ALTILINKS.

Special thanks to the Altitude Community!

Would've tried it (Windows) just for the hell of it, but the link is dead.

Also, I can't really see how this can be of any immense help, but looks cool nonetheless.

It's a cool idea - thanks for sharing it. I can't see it being useful for anyone other than brand new players (since I pretty much only go to the forums bookmark I have and to the Altitude app itself), but I would have liked something like this when I was starting out.

So when's a Windows version of this going to be released? I'm so tired of having to go to youtube and search for the altitude trailer every day when I wake up, it would be so much easier if I could just launch it from my desktop.

noob. Write the URL on your arm. That way when you wake up, you can just refer to said arm.

Unlike most of the visitors to this forum,
I practice more than meager decorum,
So when I leave bed,
To the shower I head,
So your idea can not gain a quorum.

You say 'we', does this mean there is some amazing team working on the next version of ALTILINKS? If so, would it be possible to be introduced to them? I would very much like to be able to thank all the developers of ALTILINKS and show them my immense gratitude individually. After all, ALTILINKS is furthering the community involvement of nearly every member of the Altitude community, making this a better place for all of us to spend time in.

I am also getting a lot of good use out of this.. my entire taskbar is now filled with ALTILINKS! It's cool because usually when I start my pc I like to watch the trailer or read the About page before I get to work. However, the "demo" page is not very useful to me. Would it be possible to customize so I have ALTILINKS display only a few of the links(like trailer and "About")? Thanks in advance!

PS. Are you working with [J.C]Technician? I know he is a very talented AppleScripter, and I can imagine this project reaching great heights with you two behind the wheel!

So I think that ALTILINKS is an okay name, but most really cool apps use an acronym for their name.

I typically copyright my suggestions, but you're free to use this (but not in Canada or Ireland, where copyright infringement laws are severe):

ALTILOLS: Altitude Links On Login Script

Hope you use it!

I will see what I can do. And no me and Technician are not working together. I am actually working by myself, it is just modest to say "we" instead of "I" all of the time.

For those who have had difficulty or a slow download process, we recently put our new website up. There you can download your copy of ALTILINKS if you have not and the download will not be difficult or slow. Visit the Official ALTILINKS Website for more info.

Just a quick question - say if, on the website, instead of having a link to download Altilinks, you just had a list of links to the sites that Altilinks links to, then wouldn't that serve exactly the same purpose?

Hmmm I don't know. I like having the About page accessible from my desktop.

Come on, guys. Leave him alone. If he wants to spend all his time working on something no one is going to use, then let him.
