Connection Problem Forever!!? Cant solve the forwarding ports!!!
I got so hooked to this game playing the demo but ever since I decided to buy it, it has turned into a nightmare! Even though im not really network savvy, Ive followed the guidelines as they show in:
http://altitudegame.com/firewall?ip=...271&os=windows I checked portforward.com for instructions on my edimax br-6204wg router... I DID EVERYTHING YET i STILL CAN NOT GET A DECENT CONNECTION! just cant get passed the "SSL handshake"... sometimes It does get passed that but it would show me one server available out of 10000 recognized, when i do join that server, it will drop me 2 minutes after, arguing connection problems and then it wont login again unless I reset my router... What makes it even weirder is that I manage to download the upgrades but I just cant manage to get a decent connection. This game is mad fun, right now theres nothing else I rather do than play it... can anybody please explain how to fix this as if you were explaining to a retarded person??? thanks beforehand. It's possible that your internet service provider is experiencing localized network problems -- you may want to call them and ask if there are issues connecting to Chicago, USA.
To verify your connection to our servers please try this: Start -> Run -> cmd ping -n 20 altitudegame.com What kind of pings do you get? How many packets were lost? |

This is what I get:
Reply from 75.102.27.114: bytes=32 time= 177-188ms TTL= 46 20 packets received, 20 sent, 0 lost. |

Please submit a bug report (launch Altitude, F1 to open console, reportBug, submit) and I'll take a look.
You can also try opening this file in a text editor: C:\Program Files\Steam\steamapps\common\altitude\config\optio ns.xml Make the following changes on line 3: upnpEnabled="false" bindIp="AUTO" maxServerInfoRequestsPerSecond="15" debug="true" Then launch Altitude again. |

[solution] how to fix altitude connection problem
Quote:
I have the same problem that the autor have or had! I have uninstalled and installed this game 3 times, no changes. My Windows Firewall is not blocking the game. My Modem/Router is not blocking the game because i could PING the IP (altitudegame.com). I was almost giving up on playing this game, because this bug or whatever was pissing me off. Then i saw your recommendations. My Options.xml was like that: UpnpEnabled="true" bindIp="ANY" maxServerInfoRequestsPerSecond="90" debug="false" Then i changed line 3. NO CHANGES AT ALL. SAME ERROR. Then i changed line 1 2 n 4 to exactly same way it was on your comment. VOILA! IT worked... i dont know what the **** is that bug, or why the auto-debug was not working, but u guys gotta fix this, i bet a lot of people still having the problem same way as i. so that's it, i just wanted to share this. Please submit a bug report (F1 to open console, reportBug, submit) and I'll take a look at why your router wasn't liking our UPnP code.

My problem is a little different than the rest of these guys.
I just got a laptop and I just moved into my dorm room. Unfortunately, our routers for our internet are hidden from us, so we can't see them. I believe it's the port that's causing my disconnect, so I don't know if there's any way I can connect to Altitude. Any help would be appreciated. |

similar issue
ok, i got this on the free weekend and then purchased it. im having a similar issue, i changed everything u said to change then i get an error that says port 27271 or 27272 is not available. i know its not a router issue because just yesterday i was playing the game fine, and i havent changed my router since. its also not windows firewall, as i have put this on my exceptions list and even allowed the port accessibility. i have alos tried pinging the game server, which worked fine, so any ideas id greatly appreciat
