Default tbd_blackhole

This map idea was from mled and I figured I would help him out. Even though I have never made a map it didn't take me long to figure out how the controls. This is a neutral bomb map. I tried to make the map look the best I could to mled's drawing (see thread called "2 great map ideas"). Some things I put in and took out. Yes I did use the asteroids parts but hey I didn't know how to make my own. I am actually very proud of this map for being my first. Anyways I would love some feedback from all of you and let me know how I did. This is just a rough draft of the map so new versions will be made and tested. You can play this map on #TheGenesis MTS#. Later on I will begin to add the other maps that people have made that never really get the recognition that they should. To all you map makers out there, I praise you for what you do. It is a pain and takes long hours. I think I went like 8-9 hours nonstop doing this one. Anyways, feedback and comments are welcomed. Thanks.

While the layout is creative, I'm slightly annoyed that there's only one route for bombing.

havnt played it yet but i agree with first post, imo you should take the top four rock in those long line out from each side.

this would help with the top route and lob.

I will work on it once we get the background fied first. Damdirtyape is currently helping me with the background. Once we get that fixed then I will begin to work on the layout again.

Sounds good. I've just been doin some tweaks and minor movements (very minor). Anyways, i can't really change anything else until I get an opinion from a GOOD 5v5 tbd match in there.

yo im thinking about making it a 1DM/TDM map as well for the tourney kujas planning i will PM kuja, and tell me gen what u think? take bombs out n add spirals i guess lol

hmm ill see what I can do. When is the tourny? Also if you can draw up a diagram for your other map I wouuld be happy to work on that afterwards.

After playing this map I must say next to being slightly annoyed by the overuse of asteroids graphics lately I thoroughly enjoyed it.

Ty Kuja, glad u enjoyed it. The only reason I did it with asteroids graphics was because they seemed as they would do best with mleds drawing and also that I am not quite good yet with the geometry to make the parts so yea. Anyways, thanks for the comment.

I said a bunch in the KLF castle when we played this map, and I've only now gotten around to posting about it.

Here we go:
-the little rock right below the current spawn should be removed and the spawns moved a it down (and made horizontal, of course)
-the long string of rocks blocking the bases should be either split or shortened for better bombing routes
-an extra turret or two on the above mentioned string of rocks
-the inner rocks surrounding the bomb spawn should be a ring with openings up, down, left, and right
-the outer ring of rocks could be could be rotated so that they have the same openings as they have now, except they block the new openings of the inner ring (right now it looks like a half circle with half a heart)
-if the above are ignored, put some more space in between the rocks in the center so that planes can fire into the spawn from the outside
-if the player spawns are moved down, remove the long and thin part of the hockey stick rocks at the top left and right to open up another bombing route

O.o um wow lots of things. I will try some things out with it. I was already planning on making another turret. I have been busy lately so when I get the chance I will try to do some stuff. I do agree on teh space between teh inner and outer ring could be a bit larger. I'll be sure to work on it soon. I will have lots of time towards the end of the month so mled if you want to draw up that other map I would be able to work on that as well during my plane ride. Thanks for your comment FU.

Alrite guys I had some time to mess around with the map and almost redid the whole thing haha. I am sorry that I forgot how to make the screenshot (I used microsoft paint to do it but I forgot if someone would like to remind me how.) So I guess you will just have to try it out on my server. I would really like more people to host this map so that I can get more feedback in a 5v5 situation. Even a 6v6 would be a good feedback i guess. So please tell me if you are hosting the map. I know right now that it is hosted on my server and on the KLF castle server (which I think has a password on it but I am not sure.) So I would like more people to host it to get more feedback. Thanks.

NEW UPDATE. I felt like this map was being forgotten by everyone so I decided to work some more on it, as I hope this will be a favorite space map and be made official. Anyways, I closed off 2 areas in the middle as I felt it was too open through the pathways. Also, the background got a little darker so that it is easier on the eyes, and also the background sinks in the middle so it really gives that pulling effect of a real blackhole. I hope everyone enjoys this new version. It is called tbd_blackhole instead of tbd_blackhole5 as I feel that this version will be the last. So if any of you are hosting these maps (which I hope you are!) then you must delete the old tbd_blachole (first version ever) and replace it with this new one. Enjoy

NOTE: I will update the picture tomorrow. Too lazy to do it right now.

This map definitely has an important thing going for it that I think makes it a winner: it's fun to fly through.

The current background seems too busy and stretched out for my taste. I like the attached picture in the first post of this thread better that what the background is now.

Overall, as a map maker, I'm jealous I didn't think of it

Thanks although I still need to update the picture in the OP. I love your skull island map. I am not great with graphics an backgrounds but I am getting better and learning. Thanks for your comment

OK we had a 5v5 in this game recently and it wasn't bad, few points tho.

-people don't like the background harder to see rocks. Maybe change the resolution?

-Its a little to crowded near the middle part maybe stretch the 1st ring out a tiny bit and the 2nd a little more to. So just stretch and make the middle 2 rings wider and a little larger ok?

Do this and it will be on its way to official k

yah that was not a half bad map. I did play it with mled and others and it was a decent map except it was hard to move out of middle without getting destroyed. I think planes like HC or emp/acid could be a little powerful on a whale such as me since it was a bit small and cramped in the middle. Other than that i thought the base placement was nice and i wouldn't mind having it on the ladder list and maybe in future times in the apl map pool
