Default Please add new maps to core rotation

Hey Krawz,

I would like to see ball_skylands, ball_chill, and ball_swarm2 get added to the core rotation. I think a lot of the regular players would enjoy some more variety. I know they are available for voting, but by having it that way only, they tend to be forgotten about. Those are the maps that came to mind for me, but I'm sure there are a couple more deserving ones if someone wants to speak up.

Thanks,
moog

Default Irc

starting up a dojo IRC channel was mentioned earlier tonight, and it seemed at least that some of us use IRC, so I was just wondering if any of us really want to get something like this going. I'm usually idling in a few channels, so I would be up for it. But if we only get like 5-6 people show up, probably not worth it.

Thoughts?

I'd really like to find something that is plugin-friendly with Wordpress and other popular blogging solutions. I'll look for an IRC plugin.

If this idea gets rolling, I'd suggest mibbit. It's pretty user-friendly and easily integrated into 3rd party sites. http://www.mibbit.com

it's only a matter of time before the last bastion of sanity (socs) falls, and then you might as well rename the server {T}ojo.

A sad day indeed.

It was soccer's fault. He wasn't pedaling fast enough on the generator.

k enough of the trolling / arguing / spam that's going on. This is a forum for server news - not for arguing about being banned. Nimbly games doesn't control what happens in these private servers and admins can do whatever they want - even being biased, ignorant, etc.

Could someone update ball_canopy please. A few people have mentioned it was causing fps issues, I've fixed that in the update.

I would like to add a formal complaint against one (1) admin of the server 'Ball Dojo'. There was a group on this server playing on the beautiful and wonderfully designed map ball_coal. We decided that we liked the map so much that we would revote the map after the first, and subsequently second, third, fourth, fifth, sixth, and seventh games. However, at one point, after changing the map to ball_coal from the other atrocious ball maps, the map was changed to the disgusting and coal-less map of ball_cave. I will not stand for such admin abuse. I would like to file a formal complaint and I assume that proper actions will be taken against the admin(s) responsible for this. I demand democracy in this server, and compensation for the atrocity of a ball map we had to play. I suggest that the server rotation be changed to the following:
Code:
ball_coal
ball_coal
ball_coal
ball_coal
Thank you for your time.

Sincerely,
The People

Yeah....I know it's been a while. Been super busy, and the free time that I have had, I've spent it on Civ 5 and BF3 (mainly because with a new computer, I can finally run those games).

Eventually I'll try to get back on Altitude one of these days..

BREAKING NEWS

Last night, sometime around midnight EST, Jazz played randa for a couple games. Even more so, he notched a goal in his unfamiliar trickster.

Stay tuned for more...

Jazz is one of the best new randas around, no doubts. I even heard he recently completed the triple-kill challenge.

Watch out, y'all!

Cool Dojo server move etc

Hey Dojo-ers,

I'm going to try to keep this a brief read, but will likely fail. At any rate, let me start of first by saying a BIG THANK YOU for everyone's support, enjoyment and use of Dojo over this year and in years past. Its definitely been a fun time for me and many others, and I'm glad to say I have met some good friends through it. I hope you have too! So, Happy New Year to you all and I hope you have a prosperous year and continue to play Altitude on Dojo....my Randa skillz are improving, no? Jazz randa = a bomber heart in a paper airplane.

Now, for the server move. Yes, its been moved to NYC from its previous location of Chicago. I realize this is an improvement for some, and an increase of (on average) 20-30ms for others. So to those who have benefited, your welcome. And those who have not...awefully sorry, and I feel your pain...probably more so. My BEST ping time on average was 68ms but was typically >100ms prior to the move. Anyway, there are several reasons the server was moved:

- Cost: Yes, it costs real $$ to run a server. Several of you know this and have kindly donated to the cause. Thank you so much!! I have taken the money and squandered it on riotous living. No, actually, I have combined it with my own cash and purchased 10 months of hosting for a mere 20.8% of what I would pay for the same period with our old Chicago host (thanks Vanishing for the tip!) Thus, Dojo is paid for through September of 2014!

- Flexibility: Dojo is now running on a Linux server, and I have full access to all areas of the OS and Dojo. The old host could not offer this. This means that additional coding can be added to modify Dojo in new and exciting ways (uh...well when I learn what I'm doing anyway.) Help from pro Linux users and Alti server code writers is appreciated!

- Location: A benefit to having the server in NYC is that it is an improvement to our Dojo overseas players. I have seen a significant reduction in latency from just about everyone who is outside the US. While there will always be latency from these players, I prefer to keep Dojo a place that's friendly to all players under 300ms

Future Plans: I am keeping an eye on our new host as they are growing at a rapid pace and opening up new hosting location. I believe they will at some point open up a datacenter in the Mid-US region. If this happens, we may decide to move Dojo there, or open up a Dojo-NYC and Dojo-MidUS. We'll see, and its entirely dependent on the host and/or cost/availability of another host option.

Current Issues: Many of you have reported seeing Dojo have server lag. More precisely and more likely, its router lag that's at or near the server host. CPU and Bandwidth measurements show max usages in the tenths of a percent range. I have started a trouble ticket with the provider, and they have requested that I provide them with Traceroute information. So if you all could help me get this info, I would greatly appreciate it! I'm using a tool called WinMTR to get traceroute information. If you want to download this free tool and run it while you are playing in Dojo, you may help to capture this problematic router. Then, I can give this info to the provider to help diagnose and repair. See me in game for more info or PM me.

Ok, so that's all I got ppls. Again, thanks so much for your support of Dojo over the years, and I'm looking forward to another great year of Altitude!

<T>Jazz

You had me at "I'm going to try to keep this a brief read." I thought you were quitting. Jeez, Jazz, lay off the drama!

Okay so first of all thank you for sponsoring our addiction. I think I did contribute $ at one point but clearly a one-time donation isn't paying for your randa upgrades. Much appreciated.

Until next year,
tgleaf
