Ban, what the heck?

So I was just in a ladder game, and pushed with Clap, and got an easy bomb hit, and then drybone just randomly screams ban. and then After game I'm banned for 15 days because of 'abusing randa wraparound glitch'.

I don't even play randa, EVER. I bombed it with biplane. Theres multiple people who saw the run and im sure they would vouch.

I can vouch for you on this one. I clearly saw them running the bomb after i died and then I saw a few chats of people screaming BAN. And if Im right all of those people who said BAN, are teh ones with really bad ping, so they must have seen a lag spike bomb out of nowhere and called for a ban for something that they weren't even sure about.

I was one of the spectators, but jrath was using a biplane when he was bomb running and he clearly went across the map with clap and they got an easy hit. Also, please provide the evidence that you have nobo.

I just saw Braiden abusing a blitch in TBD ladder. Reversing through walls. 2 games in a row. Offc no kick not even a ban. So cheating is allowed so why you got banned is beyong me.

I don't think you're a bad guy. I respect the time and effort you've put into making Ladder the quality place it is to play. I really enjoy my games there. They account for the vast majority of altitude matches I play.

I also respect your position as administrator. I don't think you're out to get any one and I believe you really do just try your best to be fair and impartial when dealing with the occasional deviant within your realm.

Concerning my ban however, you made a mistake. It's understandable. It happens to everyone. It's not often that a bomb gets by me completely unnoticed, but it HAS happened to me before and each time I am equally perplexed as I'm sure you were. After all, I'm an experienced player. I could never miss something like that, right?

The reality is, I did nothing wrong. Two people have already posted in my defense in this thread and from what Clap told me via IM, there was more in the game, including 1 or 2 on your own team, that felt the same way. These people are not liars nor are they miscreants. They are involved in no grand conspiracy to subvert the authority of ladder; to subvert the authority that you rightfully earned for yourself through the hours of work you did for the Altitude in the spirit of community.

So I ask you, don't dishonor their word. They are simply men doing their part for 2d-plain chuter game justice.

The way I've always felt about the death penalty is that it "is better to let all the guilty men in the world go then to punish one who is innocent". You may not feel the same, I don't know. This of course isn't the death penalty, but by sentencing me to the noob pits, it is the altitude equivalent thereof. Please, unless you're sure beyond a reasonable doubt, do not deprive me of 15 days of joyous pew-pew.

I've dealt with a lot of steaming sh*t in my time as one of the creators of ladder. By far, this one takes the cake.

Altitude logs down a fairly large amount of things that happen in a server. You can read more about them here. After the incident on bowserscastle, I took the liberty of going to the server and saving the log. If you wish, you can take a look at the whole thing here. It's long--I am pasting the important parts down below, and highlighting what you should notice.

I have highlighted the important lines to note in green. Take a look at the first line. Notice that player 15 (Jrath) has spawned with the perk combination: Time Anchor, Rubber Hull, and Reverse Thrust. Rubber reverse is the exact perk needed to perform the wraparound exploit. Also remember that Jrath claimed to have been in a biplane when this happened.

Now take a look at the second highlighted line. This line shows that Jrath has picked up the bomb. Take a note of the time, highlighted in red: it is 1290838931. This is in milliseconds, but we will come back to this later.

Now take a look at the third highlighted line. This is the line where Jrath drops the bomb. Notice the time: 1290849432. If you do some simple subtraction with the previous time, you will notice that he drops the bomb ~10.5 seconds after he picks it up. Take a look also at the position at where he drops it at: "positionX":172.6,"positionY":341.23. I went into the map, pressed b to open the debugger, and took a screenshot of around where that would be:



The bottom right shows you the position. Now, since Jrath was playing for the right team, it's funny that he would drop it from the left side of left team's base, is it not? You would have to be a major showboater to go all the way there to drop it, especially if it was clear as was claimed. Another damning thing is that his velocityX is 6.4, which means he was traveling left to right, which doesn't generally happen if you're bombing the left base from the right side. Before you mention that he's in a randa and he might've reversed, remember that he spawned with Time Anchor.

I also ran some simple tests on bowserscastle: I picked up the bomb with Time Anchor Rubber Reverse on the right side, then went straight to the left side holding the Up button all the way. It was barely possible to get to the front of the enemy base in time, let alone the back.

The fourth highlighted line shows the log where the base took damage.

The fifth line shows that Jrath respawned as a biplane, to make sure no one suspected him.

The subsequent lines show random chat messages where people are going "wtf?" in response to the bomb.

I don't know what you four, Jrath, Gen, Distraction, and Clap are trying to pull when you coordinated backing statements for Jrath, but this is possibly the worse thing you could be doing. I've dealt with people who argued with me to great lengths about their bans, but it was always something that could be contested: "i didn't know there was a rule!" "that was a valid vote kick!" or "my internet disconnected and i couldn't come back in!" But this one, where you did something OBVIOUSLY wrong and then COORDINATED your lies to try to get your way out of it, is beyond acceptable. And then to demand that I produce evidence of this, clap? And distraction, I've never spoken to you about evidence, so you've obviously talked to clap on this matter. To do this amounts to an attack on the ladder administration reputation, which is far less acceptable than any personal attack anyone has ever done to me. It is a coordinated attack to bring down the basis from which I am able to administer bans without people questioning me left and right.

Jrath, Gen, Distraction and Clap are all permabanned from ladder until they issue a full and public apology, in a separate thread, on these forums, explaining exactly what the circumstances were that caused them to do this.
