Default Guides Forum Layout

Hey everyone,

Welcome to the new Guides forum layout! We've rearranged things a bit, but it should be pretty easy to figure out. A fair amount of people had commented before how there was nothing really separating the guides that had been peer reviewed, edited, and praised from the ones that either weren't really guide-worthy material or were still in beta stage (needed editing). This subforum technique is our proposed solution.

The process of getting guides from the beta stage to a fully completed status hasn't been fully worked out yet, so we'll need your help thinking of the best solution. I was thinking something like this:
  1. Guide gets written and posted to the Beta Guides subforum. Anything you want to write is perfectly acceptable.
  2. Peers and other forum members read the guide, suggest edits, and give general constructive criticism.
  3. When the Mods deem the guide close to completed, we will append a [G] tag to the start of the thread title and/or sticky it in the Beta Guides subforum. We'll state any final edits needed before the guide is considered completed.
  4. Last minute edits are made in response to general suggestions.
  5. Guide is moved to the larger "Guides" forum and is considered completed.

That should be a good way to separate the guides still in the process of being written and edited from the fully completed ones. At least that's the best system I could come up with right now. I'd love to hear any suggestions, comments, and feedback on this idea and any way to improve it. The whole process has yet to be decided and we could use your input!

Thanks for the feature Pieface. However, its currently not possible for non-admins to post new threads into the Beta guide forum. Just a heads up.

Looking into it, thanks for the heads up.

Edit: should be fixed now.

I am guessing I am probably one of the reason's you started this way of posting guides...
Are we airplanes, or are we dancers?

At first glance it looks great. I'll try to read through it and give you any final comments before moving it to the completed section sometime in the next couple days.

By the way, are you two just submitting this one guide? Holly had written a couple other ones but I wasn't sure whether or not you guys were combining the info into one guide or not.
