Default Third random option

Heya.

Would it be too much effort to add a third random option for choosing your plane, something like Customized Random. For this random, one could select which planes and which perks would be used. (and skins ofc).

I know the point of random is to get a totally new plane and leaving your destiny to the hands of lady luck, but then again, it kinda starts to get annoying when you get 5 planes in a row with either rev thrust/rubber hull with tracker. With this you could nullify out the most idiotic ones or the ones that don't fit into your playstyle.

For me atleast this would be usefull as I don't have enough space for all of the possible combos I'd like to get from Random Custom (so that is kinda limited) and with Random All I get some really dumb combos (as mentioned above).

Secondly, is there any way of adding one more dude to the "assist in making a goal" list? (I mean the one that appears during the game). As quite a few of the most impressive goals I've ever seen included at least 3 dudes attacking (and passing) to each other. Usually the one who initially starts the attack doesn't get credited as much as they should imo.

Comments?

I like the idea of another random option, although your suggestion sounds a little complex to implement. How about a tweak on the custom random option, which would allow you to highlight which set-ups you want "active" on this particular night? For example, I could have all set-ups active like it is in now, or, I could have only my defensivee set-ups active. Or offense set-ups only.

No to your second idea.

I was thinking a simple "tick a box" type of a system.
Tweak to that could be some sort of a saving system, save lists. This would allow saving different sets, offensive sets, defensive sets, daft planes sets etc.

So something like this: (where 0 represents unticked, X is ticked)

Planes
Loopy (X)
Bomber (X)
Whale (0)
Bippy (0)
Randa (0)

Red perks
Loopy perks
---Tracker (0)
---Double missile (X)
---Acid (X)
Bomber perks
---Surpres (X)
---Bomb (0)
---Flack (X)

And so on.

Similar list for green and blue perks.

So with this setup I would get only loopies or bombers. For loopy I'd either get duoble missiles or acid and for bomber I'd get either surpressor or flak.

Can't you get most of what you want right now by filling all the 12 (?) spots with configurations that you want to use?

I like the idea of the simple tick box option. It would allow you to get a nice variety of green (save for Rubber) and blue perks instead of having it as HA and Turbo every time when you do custom random (for example).

Replying to posts 5 & 6

No. I showed just a simplyfied list as I wasn't arsed to do anything larger.

Let's say, player X wants to play all of the planes available. But he hates rubberhull and ultra.
Player X also wants to try out new combos. But he is very conservative, he doesn't want to change his layout just because he wants to try out other combos.

He has never really understood how to fly a randa. That means he wants all of the red perks, 3 of the green and 3 of the blue perks. That sums up to 3x3x3 = 27.
If I wanted to figure out the secrets of randa, I sure wouldn't want to redo all of my planes. And note, this is just one plane.

He wants to try out other planes aswell. New combos. Lets say that he has flown only with the following sets:

Loopy with tracker, rubber and ultra
Biplane with bombs, rubber and ultra
Fatzo with director, rubber and ultra

This leaves us 2x3x3 + 2x3x3 + 2x3x3 + (biplane) 3x3x3 and (randa) 3x3x3
Whip out a calculator and be amazed how that exeeds the amount of preset slots. See my point?

Personally, I really like using random in public games. I learn how other planes work and how they are viable. Getting a loopy with tracker, rubber hull and rev isn't really helping me. Or in a bit more intense game (lets say, a good game on the {arr} servers) getting a bad plane/perk combo results in QQ instead of pew pew.

(sorry for digging up this, forgot to reply earlier)

I like this idea, but I guess the configuration form would be dull to develop and hard to design.

You sure?
I am really bad at drawing anything, especially when I'm using mouse. I also suck at editing images so bear with me.

I made a sketch using pics from alti wiki.

Yes, it sucks, but should give the basic idea.
Instead of "tick a box" you could actually click the image representing a perk. Note that the bomb perk has a gray overlay. I would have done it to all other perks aswell if I had the patience and time and whatnot. Instead I just crossed the ones that are not selected. (or deselected that is)

So with this setup I would get either a loopy, bomber or randa.
Loopy perks would be double missile and acid, bomber would get surpressor or flak and randa would have all 3 red perks.

The green perks would be anything but rubber
Blue perks would be turbo or AI

Somewhere on the page you could have that "save a list" button, press and write what you would call your setup. Then you could have a droplist next to it, where you would get your other saved lists. Third button would be "New list" which would clear the board.

I'd say, the editing should be done in hangar deck. (when not playing)
And while at it, could you add an option to edit your custom slots in hangar deck? Just a nice little touch.

EDIT: I can't see my sketch anymore, if anyone else has the same problem, I'll reupload the pic

That actually looks like a pretty solid idea. I've often thought the same thing - wishing I could go random without getting certain perks for certain planes (And avoiding rubber hull altogether).

Is this idea dead or is there a chance we will have something like this?
