Yes. Long shots are mostly blocked, the middle is open enough but not too much, and there are some unique paths/areas to use for clearing, carrying, and passing.

I think it looks like it has a lot of potential. I wouldn't mind playing on it.

Ooooooooo, another new map for PG to test! Just out of curiosity, why do you always put the word "park" at the end of your maps, Mandrad?

Its a way of saying its mine! Its probably a designers disease! I was fighting this stupid vanity the other day and thinking about how maimer made his mark in locomotion - that was without doubt design wise - (for those who never saw it, press b and check the wagon in front of left base).

Played this today quick thoughts:

-Might be a bit too cramped.. The size of the map seems very small, and the obstacles seem really close

Played a 7v7 on the AIR server, agree that it was a bit cramped.

Please make the background less intense, the white was painful to look at.

Thats odd!?! Background aint white, its a mild yellow - quiet soft imo.
Are you sure it isnt your monitor settings? Maybe u have it to bright with a very high contrast?

I was there too, the map design is awesome but a little too cramped. Btw, I was playing in an old computer with paralax off, and the map was all white, I had to turn paralax on to see the obstacles.

What's 'soft' in a stationary picture can be painful for the eyes when things are darting about and you have cartoon planes flying and exploding all over it.

And no, it's not white, but it's pretty close

If you want to include this color, I might suggest inverting the colors, i.e. making the color you have for the border objects the background color. It's not so bad when the brighter colors are in objects, since those show up less, but getting flooded with a brighter background is where problems arise.

At this phase i wasnt concerned with graphics. I chosen a soft background so it was playable with or without parallax... yes its only 1 image so no parallax off -> my bad
All i wanted to understand for now is if this was worthy or not.
Ill make a slightly bigger version with more room between obstacles.

Tx for comments

I hope you will! I share the opinion that the design is great but the map too small. Its basis is otherwise excellent and I can see it being very playable in higher levels.

I don't really noticed the difference in size. It's still very easy to go coast to coast and score.

Whoops, sorry, I didn't noticed the map file changed the name from ball_bangbang to ball_bangbangpark, so I uploaded the file but it didn't replace the old one.

Now I have the old one up and running, it's soooooooooooooooooooooooooo pretty.
(The game was a loopy+randa fest so, I have nothing to say about it yet)

I have some feedback on the map now.

The game flow feels natural, although I think it tends to be played a little to much near the bottom. Most people seem to like the map, and one of the times I called a vote for changeMap, we ended up playing it 3 times in a row cause someone else would vote the map again as soon as the game ended and people would vote yes.

So I'd say you're on the right track with this one.

Parabéns.

Lol, no. I'm just trying to get people to give feedback about the map. I think the map should generate a lot more noise around it than it has been doing.

Also I think this map has a lot of potential to become official.

Im realy used to it and... start not caring about it...
I think "your" hivepark also has that potential (well, even more imo) and feedback is miserable so...
Anyway, tx for the push

* Maybe the only solution to a reaction is puting the maps with most potential rotating for 4 days to a week in the officials???
Not gonna sugest it anyway... to tired now... and we must give testmap server a chance.

Did you submit it to the test server? I don't know how successful the test server has been, but it can be a way to make people notice the map.

I must Mandrad, i like this map simple design, and good chokes. I had another compliment i was going to say but since ryebad said it, it must have slipped my mind. Something along the lines of a good amount of objects and open spaces.

dont listen to the QQ'ers who keep saying there are too many spamming areas. There are never enough spam areas.

[19:52] (|Admin|): i like this map
[19:52] ///tVo.Pe|n: same
[19:53] {ball} drunkguava: this map doesnt like you
[19:53] (|Admin|): good composition of obstacles + open spaces
[19:53] (|Admin|): stfu guava
[19:53] (|Admin|): bangbang me

Oh here it is

Default Graphics/Name change

According to Devs, ball_bangbangpark is close to be official but, graphics need improvement.
People seem to like the map, and it has loads (32 i think) of votes in Map Test Server so... i´ve been brainstorming a graphics solution for bangbang but i cant get away from the sex idea behind it so, without a path to escape the Spanish Inquisition, i quited banging online.
I picked an ilustration of mine, a dragon, and thought of changing map's name to something like ball_Candyfirepark.
Im open to sugestions for a new theme although putting this behind my back would be my favourite solution...

Original image has loads of colour and colour its a big issue in map backgrounds. I tried to make a balance in the way it didnt get dull but im not thriled with the result.

Go ahead and say its ok go... or help on a way out (please).
Tx in advance

The new graphics are great but for a background picture it's way way distracting.

You should considering toning it down and fading it a LOT into the background. A subtle dragon that is hard to notice and doesn't detract from the gameplay would make it very professional. In a good map, the background should never dominate it.

Just my 2c. Nice dragon btw.

I think the black-hole BG design is nice, but the dragon doesn't really fit in ... at all. I am for removing it entirely while keeping the black-hole design it is currently resting on.

(On another note, ball_dragon would be an interesting map idea -- have the dragon's body be the outer body of the entire map)

I understand your point but... (big but here!) Thing is, this is an old file i have. I have the dragon layered file (not sure if the latest version) and i have a .jpg with dragon and background (no idea where i put the .psd of this). So im gonna have to work with what i have.
When u say dragon doesnt fit at all are u talkin about the fact that it is kinda tight surrounded by the objects? If so... the width of the jpg is at the lateral limits of the map so, again, not much i can do.

I reduced the kick in the eye factor and its now, imo, way better.
Tx for replies (replyes)(replys)

EDIT: Center of the image is black so i was able to easily separate dragon and background. This way i can have a smaller gragon -> 2nd image

Nah, I just mean I think it seems kinda random ... not sure what a dragon has to do with black holes or 'bangbang' :O
