Default Speed based on Gravity x Distance or something

anyone know how much speed increase there is traveling down? i know it's slightly faster but shouldn't it equate to the speed lost by traveling up? i'm thinking the speed should increase more when you are traveling down the longer you are moving down. anyone have any thoughts or info about this?

I like realism to be second to gameplay. I kind of like the current model.

But talking realism for a second. There is a friction limit thanks to drag for free-falling objects.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Drag_%28physics%29

That is also influenced by the propelling system which when operated at it's limit will also influence the speed of the plane and contribute to there being a max speed going down while the propelling system is active.

Overall the current settings feel pretty good to me so I'm not sure if it needs tweaking.

interesting. that makes sense. i guess i'd like to see the free falling object + speed + propellers + whatever minus drag friction increased so there was just a slight bump in speed going down. to me it always feels like if you travel full throttle all the way down the screen you should be able to pick up a bit more speed.
