nice looking map. I was actually working on a map with the exact same name about 3 months or so ago. Oh well. This one looks way better anyways.

I only tested it once so far but here's some quick feedback:

The most recurring complaint was that people couldn't tell the names of the planes and if they're smoking. Even if it makes every kill a surprise, maybe there is an option to gray out the names in the level editor?
On the other hand, as the icey graphics look very good, perhaps you could expand on that theme and change the background entirely to something a bit brighter to solve that problem.

Regarding the layout, I think the middle obstacles are working pretty well. You found a good distance between them, and the tunnels also have a good balanced width.
I think you should now focus on the goal sides to spice them up a bit. Either by adding little obstacles on top and bottom of it, or even better, by shaping those walls on each side and making them more funky.

Great start, keep it up!

You can pick the color of the names.

Just played the map and it looks great, it would need some testing to become ladder approved imo.

Some small changes that would make it better:

- Change smoke to grey
- Change player names to grey or another colour as long as it isnt black.

I chose to go for the simple version, I really like simplicity. I could of done something like what you did, but it's not really my style.

I added the hint of blue to the top mountains because I wanted the bg to have a ice feel.

The parallax layers aren't set up correctly. Open up lostcity for good ratios to use for parallax layers to the look right.

Couldn't we just use some uncopyrighted Mountain pics and blur them a bit? Like the alps? I'm sure there are some. Instead of making these ourselves?

Here is ball ice w/ fixed parallax:

Imported map version
http://nimblygames.com/ball_ice_fixed_parallax.zip

Exported version:
http://nimblygames.com/ball_ice_fixed_parallax.altx

Here's what I did:
In the View Editor I changed the following values from what ever they were to the following:
Background: 1400x1400 -> (2800, 1400)
Front BG: 1680x1400 -> (2800,1400)

That's it, looks good now IMO

Because of the way you've done the mountains you could easily set up all the mountains in their own view and they could each parallax differently which would be really cool. Just make sure you "optimize" each view so there isn't image data that will never be seen. I.E. the current Background view the mountains should really only be half height images because you never see that part of the mountains.

Sure, didn't mean any offense, I thought it might be easier. Once we get the graphics and parallax stuff sorted out we should get more people to test this map.

I'll try vote for it in the official maps server whenever i get the chance Thanks again!

You can't start a party without the ice

Played this a couple of time and I like it, especially the shapes near the goals that allow nice trickshots.
