Minecraft for Alti players

Hello all,

Following the previous minecraft server post for alti players, we now present you the new and improved Minecraft server:

Before you go ahead and join, you should know that it's based on Survival MultiPlayer, with a series of plugins that allow some degree of creative play.

We have a WhiteList plugin, so, if you want to join us, please fill the form bellow and post it in this thread:

I am the admin and owner of the server, and along with the other mods, we can give you a hand within reasonable limits. We strongly dislike griefers to the point where bans are instant, and there are no second chances.

Managing the server is taking a lot of time - setting up backups, keeping all the plugins up to date, policing the bad users - if you like the server and would like to donate, my Paypal address is mihait [at] gmail [dot] com.

Here are the rules:

#1 - Listen to the Admins, they know best.
#2 - No Griefing!
#3 - Do NOT modify others work, if you wish to help, ask.
#4 - Do NOT build single towers or tunnels near the spawn.
#5 - Do NOT flatten any areas.
#6 - Build in allocated areas, or:
#7 - Ask for a new area to be allocated to you (you have some leeway finding a suitable area).
#8 - Never build too high, unless you ask an Admin
#9 - Report all wrong doings directly on to an admin.

NEWS:

- updated craftbukkit to latest recommended build, updated other plugins as well.
- over the last few days i've been having problems with the server, which had some downtime and it is laggy. i am in contact with the VPS hosting provider to find a lasting solution. bear with us a couple more days.

- CraftBukkit updated to b522, everything seems to be ok. Updated multiverse to 1.5 and finally fixed perms for non-admin users - mvlist, mvtp, mvspawn are now available for use. Re-added lightvote plugin. Added PorteCoulissante plugin (allows you to make sliding doors out of stacked fences if you use redstone), and MyHome (allows you to set your home - see /home help).

- CraftBukkit updated to b493, some plugins are broken - LightVote, ExtendDay and Flashlight. Hopefully someone will update them and i will reinstall them. On the bright side, TPing is so much faster now

- Downgraded Bukkit to the recommended version, updated some plugins, deop-ed dre and fu.
- installed InfiniteChests - allows to make chests/dispensers that give infinite amounts of a certain item. (place chest, than place sign above chest reading "[infchests]" on the first line and "ITEM:QUANTITY" on the second line - i.e. "dirt:64" or just "dirt")
- PvP is now enabled on the Home world, as long as you type "/pvp on" in chat. to turn it off, type "pvp off". This made Trendy very happy.

-updated bukkit, minecart mania to newer versions, but there still are some problems with minecarts not being properly destroyed.
-updated MultiVerse plugin.
-replaced Permissions plugin with GroupManager plugin, and as a result some permissions were fixed - /rules, /news and some /tp commands now work for everyone. MultiVerse permissions still broken, waiting for a new update. Also, permissions can now be updated on the fly, no need to reboot the server.
2/23/2011 (shortly after midnight)
- Installed an updated Bukkit build that was updated to Beta 1.3
- restored a bunch of plugins, with couple exceptions - but here is the installed plugin list:
ExtendedDay, Permissions, MCDocs, Sponge, LightVote, Pumpkin Diver, Mining TNT, Wool Color Giver, Flashlight, Minecart Mania Core, MoveCraft, TelePlus, FenceStack, MultiVerse, LWC. PvP plugin does not work with the new Bukkit version. I should prolly try v1.3 of the plugin.

Minecraft Beta 1.3 released. Craftbukkit server is no longer accepting connections due to it being "outdated". i've set up a plain vanilla server (no PLUGINS) and copied the world over. Unfortunately, i do not know how this will work out when Bukkit updates their build to use the beta 1.3 code. Most plugins may be broken for a while. PS. converting the Home world took forever and kept CPU close to 100%.
PS2. the new update broke most client side plugins. need to check them out.

I've been told some commands (i.e. /rules and /news) do not work for everyone. i'm looking into it.

The giant monster spawn trap, that we worked a very long time to build, is now fully operational. This means: infinite amounts for arrows, bones, feathers and Sulphur.
We now have access to the Nether. Be careful when going there.
We have several minecart tracks routes, along with boosters and autostarters.

- MultiVerse - allows the use of more than 1 world. We currently have the OldWorld (from the alpha server), Home (the SMP map) and H3ll. You can use /mvtp and /mvlist commands

I couldn't use these commands as it said I didn't have permission. Got stuck in alpha world until someone nice teleported me back.

Both /mvtp and /mvlist commands didn't work. It said "You do not have the rights to access this command" for both.

g0g - have you added them to the 2nd tier plugin list? It sounds like you didn't which makes the plugins say stuff like that

since the server and plugins are still beta, there are some issues when setting up the server with Permissions and plugin permissions - the permissions listed in the MultiVerse documentation do not work properly, and give out errors at server startup.

i've copied the permissions we previously used, and there are no new errors at startup, but the commands do not work for normal users. we'll have to wait for a newer version for both the server and plugins, although we have the risk to create incompatibilities with other plugins.

for now, people can use the portals we created.
