Default APL 5 Rules

Most of this is from Evil's rules from his website that I copied and pasted. The main changes are here http://altitudegame.com/forums/showthread.php?t=6246

The ingame substitution rule is posted at 10.1 or the bottom of my second post.

3.2 Sportsmanship

All members are required to uphold and observe a universal level of sportsmanship. Any unsportsmanlike action which includes but is not limited to (Racism, Profanity, Rude Acts, Vulgar Acts, Acts of Belligerence, and Disrespect of an Official) may be reviewed and are reason for filing a disputed.

Rulings on sportsmanship are subject to official interpretation. If a member or team is found in violation of this rule the following actions will happen:

* Minor infractions as judged by an official: Formal warning to player/captain
* Major infractions as judged by an official: (2) week suspension
* Sever infractions as judged by an official: (1) total event suspension
* Multiple infractions can result in a permanent ban.

Any accusations of unsportsmanlike conduct must be submitted as a dispute and will be investigated by Admins of Altitude Professional League officials. UNSPORTSMANLIKE CONDUCT DISPUTES WILL NEVER RESULT IN MATCHES
BEING REVERSED!

3.21 Leaders and their responsibility

Players breaking blatant rules not only hold themselves reliable, but also their captains. If a player multi-clans with a smurf, captains of both teams are due to some sort of judgement. If case proves the either or both of the captains knew about illegal actions, they will be punished by the a similar infraction and lose the ability to captain their team.

3.3 Member Names

Member game names containing any of the following will not be tolerated: profanity, racism, sexism, drug use, or general vulgarity. Players found with offensive names will be contacted by an official and asked to edit their name to something more appropriate. If a member is found to be using a name that is deemed offensive after being asked to have it changed by an official, that member will be issued a warning. If the rule is violated a second time, that member will be removed from the event.

4. Team Information

4.1 Rosters
All team rosters are established during the registration period prior to the start of the event. Changes to team rosters may take place during the registration period and during the weekly roster unlock periods. Teams are required to have the minimum number of members required to play a match to be considered and ACTIVE team.
Max roster size is 20

4.2 Roster Unlock Schedule
During the season, teams are allowed to have 2 substitutions to their roster. These substitutions must not have played for another team during the season.

The addition of a new member must be posted on the forums by the Leader or Assistant Leader/organizer and the member being added the day before a match! As long as it is posted, it is allowed.

4.3 Roster Lock Period
Rosters are considered LOCKED during Playoffs. During the roster LOCK period member additions from rosters are prohibited unless with official approval: An official may approve the addition of a member to a team's roster for the following reason:

* A team loses a member by means other than termination, which in turn leaves that team with less than the required minimum needed to participate. Just because a team loses a member does not constitute that an official will allow the addition of another member.
* The opposing teams. Captain agrees to the member(s) being added and permission has been granted from an APL Official.

Once an event enters its permanent roster lock period, NO PLAYERS will be allowed to join a team. Exceptions will only be made for extreme circumstances which include but are not limited to natural disasters, and death, or severe trolling. If a team cannot field the required number of members to participate in a playoff match, a roster addition may be allowed but only with the approval of every teams captain participating in that particular event playoff. Information on the permanent roster lock period will be posted in the news section of the website prior to the final roster lock.

4.5 Team Name Changes
Team name changes are allowed at anytime, but are limited to one (1) change per event.

5. Game Play Environment Requirements

Members and team captains MUST comprehend and follow all rules. Ignorance of the rules is not an excuse for a violation. The game environment can be best defined as any and all files used to control, influence, or manage game play. APL requires that all members use the default game environment that is created upon a clean installation.

5.1 Third Party Applications
The use of any third party application and or program to influence or manipulate the game environment is strictly prohibited. Any such situations will be regarded as a cheating violation and will result in a loss and immediate termination from the event. Subsequently any and all matches that the guilty player played in will be overturned as well. The violating player's captain is held responsible as well.

5.2 Message Modes and Voice Communications
In game chat, while frowned upon, is not illegal so long as it is done in a positive nature. All Message Mode chat must be kept to a minimum and may not include any profane or derogatory comments. Message Mode violations are subject to the rules of sportsmanship

The use of the in-game voice communication software like Team Speak and Ventrilo are the preferred forms of voice communication and are also permitted.

5.3 Spectators
Spectators of an APL match must adhere to the same rules as every other participant. Spectator Chat is only allowed when its to other spectators. You are allowed to congratulate good play but do not post anything that is lengthy that could distract players in the game.

6. Match Scheduling and Forfeit Requirements

6.1 Match Scheduling

Matches are to be scheduled and played on Sundays. Failure to play any event match by the deadline day could result in forfeit losses for both teams.

Team Captains / Managers are required to contact their opponent through any means to the match deadline date to establish the match time and the designated server(s) if the time given does not work. While communicating via other third party applications (IRC, XFIRE, MSN, etc.) is commonplace, Make sure you have proof that you are actually scheduling. Any team having trouble scheduling a match within these guidelines needs to contact me or a respective admin immediately. Sunday is the official day. The very next Sunday is the last day to finish your match. Extensions will be given on extreme conditions. If you are 1-0, after a two game week, like you missed one match, you will not be scheduled any matches the following week. If you only play 6 games the whole season out of 8, your chances for playoffs greatly diminish.

6.2 Match Scheduling After the Deadline Day
Teams are NOT allowed to schedule or play their matches after the match deadline day without explicit permission from an admin. Teams that require an extension to their match deadline day, should contact an admin no later than 4 days (Wednesday) prior to the official deadline day of the match. Permissions are given by on a per-case basis.

6.3 Match Rescheduling

Teams may reschedule a match date and time before the scheduling deadline day by contacting an admin. After the scheduling deadline day has passed, teams CANNOT reschedule their match. Teams, cannot schedule further than one week. Any longer will result in the match being forfeited.

Any event match where a team receives a forfeit win, they will recieve it as a regular win, but counting only as a (1-0) victory.

6.4 Match Reporting
At the completion of the match the team Captain / Manager from either team MUST report the match final score. Team captains / Managers should report all forfeit wins via forums. We have admins that watch everything, but just in case, be prepared to report the score with evidence.

6.5 Reporting False Match Scores
Team Captains / Managers are required to report all scores as accurately as possible. Intentionally reporting false or erroneous scores may result in having the match overturned (regardless if the match was played or not). Multiple violations of this rule will result in the termination of the team from the event. All punishments are up to the discretion of APL officials.

If you know you have reported a match score incorrectly contact APL admins and no punishment will be issued.

6.6 Forfeits
Forfeit wins will be issued for the following reasons only:

* Teams that do not have their matches scheduled and played by the match deadline day
* Teams cannot field the required minimum number of members (4) needed to start a match within fifteen minutes of the scheduled match time
* Teams do not have enough members due to members suspension or termination
* The team you are scheduled to play has died or become inactive

Any team that receives two (2) forfeit losses in two different weeks may be removed from the event. Teams are allowed to have an unlimited amount of forfeit wins during the season. All forfeit wins will count as roughly 100% of a real win in the APL event. No forfeits will be rescheduled unless there is admin approval.

6.7 Requirements for Reporting a Forfeit Win
In order to report a forfeit win the following MUST happen:

* ALL members of the requesting team MUST BE logged in a server.
* The opposing team cannot field 4 players.
* Fifteen minutes MUST pass after the agreed upon match time scheduled
* If all of the above criteria are meet, then a forfeit win can be reported.
* Teams caught reporting matches fraudulently or incorrectly will be issued a forfeit loss and infractions.

7. Game Server Information and Requirements

7.1 Dedicated Servers

Teams may utilize their own dedicated server and is not hosted locally. In the event that a Non-APL server is used, ANY and ALL issues that arise from server problems will be the sole responsibility of the hosting team. This includes, but is not limited to, server reboots, round restarts, and map changes. Matches may be split and played on two (2) dedicated servers.

7.2 Server Reservation

APL game servers are reserved for Altitude ProLeague members ONLY and may be utilized for play in any sanctioned APL event match. Teams that have played earlier will get priority for practice. Any trouble, please contact an Admin

7.3 Server Crashes
If a server crashes during any "LIVE" event match, wait in the server, join your respectful teams, and wait until everyone is ready to SPAWN, if you spawn, kamikaze right away. If you take a single power up or live without intention of kamikaze before everyone is ready and permitted to spawn, the match will be restarted. This obviously requires proof, but if an admin is present, he is allowed to stop the match at anytime.

9. Game Violations

9.1 Game Exploits
It is illegal to intentionally utilize any game exploits. Specific game exploits will be included in the game specific rules. For any exploits used that are not explicitly covered, officials have discretion to determine the intention and extent of the violation. The default penalty may be a reversal of up to three (3) matches and possible suspension of the offending member. Officials have full discretion to modify the exact penalty to suit the offense.

9.2 Cheating
Cheating in any form is considered a violation of the rules and will result in immediate member termination and a report to Karl and Lamster. Cheating / Hacking is considered any manipulation of server configurations, client configurations, models, skins, weapons, sounds, or anything that alters the predetermined settings listed within the rules. Officials have the final word on what is deemed a cheat or hack. Any players caught cheating in an official APL event will be suspended for a minimum of one year. The best way to deal with this is to admit to it if you get caught, and report where you got your third party applications. Giving full cooperation to APL admins will minimize your punishment.

9.3 Player Ringing (Smurfing)
If you or one of your members is going to be playing from a place other than their original point of registration, that member needs to notify aN APL official prior to the match. Failure to do so may result in a ringing suspension unless there is sufficient evidence to prove otherwise. If a team is caught with a RINGER it will result in the following course of action:

* A team warning will be issued
* The match will be overturned
* The member who rang if it can be determined will be punished
* The captain of the offending team will be suspended

If you or one of your members is going to be playing from a place other than their original point of registration, that member needs to notify his or her admin prior to the match. Failure to do so will result in a ringing suspension unless there is sufficient evidence to prove otherwise.

9.4 Member / Team Termination Guidelines
In the event that a member or team is found in violation of any event rule, unless otherwise noted by the specific rule or term violated, the member or team in question may be warned, suspended, or immediately disqualified from any or all APL events as determined by event officials.

Any member or team receiving multiple warnings within the same event or across multiple events may be suspended or immediately disqualified from any or all APL events as determined by event officials.

9.5 ANY TEAM FOUND WITH A SINGLE CHEATER during any playoff, tournament, or other bracket-based event will be IMMEDIATELY disqualified and removed from the event unless otherwise stated by the event rules or news post. Exceptions may be granted only in applicable circumstances to be determined by event staff on a per-infraction basis.

9.6 TEAMS FOUND WITH MULTIPLE CHEATERS may be immediately disqualified and removed from any event, at the sole discretion of event staff, unless otherwise stated by the event rules or news post.

10. More Things to Come!

10.1 Players maybe have a 6th player on the team to start the tournament mode, so if a player disconnects, they can temporarily take their place. If the disconnected player returns, the team must leave that substitute in unless if there is another disconnect. Basically, make sure you always have 5 on your team at all times. People just spectating and not being connection dropped will not permit a substitute.

TBH, it was hilarious and we won anyway, so it doesn't matter.

However, after reconsidering this, I realise I felt violated but those name changes. My laughing it off was just shock induced hysteria at the sheer depravity of the situation and I feel as though I will never be the same again.

What if those people were in IL|, the terror, the shame, maybe you should think before you act next time FRO, lest you destroy the innocence of others. It's too late for me now, but I urge you to stop this senseless terrorism.

Please, if there is any humanity left in altitude; shave the FRO.

The only thing that would be against the rules is if FRO didn't tell me they were doing so and in the mean time, they used someone else not on their roster. However, they did tell me that they were going to change their tags and no one seemed to have a problem with it.

I am going to take this opportunity to warn other teams if they decide to do what FRO did and it causes trouble or excess confusion, there will be some sort of penalty. In all, it is better to just keep your tags
