Welcome to the official thread of
/ A i .
ASiAN iNVASiON // Artifical Inteligence
[Team Base Destruction]

Thanks to TwistedDuck
(oᴥo)
Hello, and welcome to the information and organization thread for /Ai. . We're a group of strays who have banded together to have a blast in shooting down planes. We're trying to learn and improve ourselves as a team as well as an individual. Like most clan promises, the idea of respect and responsibility will be carried along. The only difference between us and them, is that we'll do it better (or at least try to be!). We want to create a home and solid structured clan that can at least survive the dreaded period of flames and trash-talk, and still be able to stand and have fun.

in the honor of panda

[Panda Policy of Recruiting: Actively seeking members who qualifies and displays certain characteristics.]
Closed unless circumstances deem otherwise,
we're still keeping an eye out on potentials and we have no factored people out yet.
I have a list of potential candidates that may be able to join, but not at this given time.

So for a lot of people, you might not experience more than 50ms of lag before you hear what they have said. Mumble also has a great wizard for configuring your microphone that really helps everyone sound as good as possible. Lastly, Mumble has version for Windows, Linux, and Mac and some cool plugins that provide overlays and such in a lot of popular games (including an OpenGL overlay that should work in Altitude, haven't tested it yet though).

Where do I download Mumble?
To download the Mumble client, simply navigate to:

And download the proper client for your operating system.

How do I connect to the server?
Simply choose Server->Connect and hit 'Add new...'

The server information for the Altitude Community Mumble Server is:

Address: tecslice.gotdns.com
Port: 64277
Username: Whatever you want, preferrably your Altitude name

Panda Support

Since the shrinking population of this cat-bear mammal, the clan supports the near extinct animal and we have pandas in hearts.

Thanks Rib, are you willing to tell me how to deal specifically with HC laggers as a laser? They tend to keep shooting after they should be dead, just like with other planes but especially this one is a thorn in my side in practice.

Also would like to add that Phloopy is also among us.

I will be updating the opening posts as soon as I can. Logo is almost done, and the coding. I'll schedule a practice soon, but for the moment just member searching would be nice.

Dealing with laggers is difficult, but just general advice for HCs:

If the HC has no bars then it takes 2 shots and a little extra machine-gun to kill you. If you stay out of range of his machine-gun then it is very difficult for him to kill you, because 3 shots takes a huge amount of energy and often HCs will stall themselves if they fire too many shots.

Always approach from above or below. Below means that you fly more slowely, giving you time to laser him. You can kill him faster than he can turn 90 degrees and get two shots off. If you come from above then he will have to shoot upwards at you, which will force him to stall. He will then either turn away or crash. Dodge these shots if you can.

Against a good HC with 2 (I think) bars or more, the HC shot becomes super OP against you, so you want to close on them fast. If he hits you before you close on him, you are normally a dead man. Laser him as you go, then don't charge another shot (he should be at least smoking, though you can kill him in one). Once you are in range, he will use his machine-gun, time your warp so that you warp through the AoE and you should be fine. Don't charge another shot, turn, then pewpew/warp as necessary to kill him.

Interesting and solid view, but in most of these situations in which I would normally be able to kill a HC, I'd also be able to kill this same HC if he would lag. Although the problem lies with facing a HC head on. Assuming I don't have full hp, he has bars and I face him somewhat, of course not perfectly head on, I usually fire 1/3 - 1/2 of my laser, warp through him and reverse right after that to shoot the rest of my laser at HC's rear. Often times when this HC lags, he dies later than he should and I fly into his AoE (because of lag) because I don't have energy left to do anything. Especially when he is good, has bars and I don't have full hp at the beginning of this dance, this always kills me. In this situation I don't know what else to do other than employing this tactic to kill him, not considering you could of course ignore this HC altogether and fly past or away from him. I'm wondering what you do in these hellish situations in which it seems almost impossible to kill him AND stay alive doing it my way.

If I see him coming at me, I warp back behind an obstacle, and wait there, then as he comes round the corner, warp through him. Now he is facing the wrong way with about 2/3 health and if you timed your warp correctly he shouldnt have hit you. Even if he did, he will have a hard time turning 180 and unstalling before you kill him.

I don't know whether 3 PM EST at Saturday is a good time for events for most members, but only on rare occasions will I be able to come at that time.

I updated a change in practice, I made it for tomorrow evening! Sorry for the quick notice! But I want as many people to show up as possible!

And probably the last member to join until we get organized!

Awww...

Sadly I can't make that time for practice. I'm having one final party before I move to Wisconsin.

And, as a general rule, late night Saturday is bound to be difficult.

Sundays would definitely be my best day of the week. Also, Monday-Thursday after 7pm should be good once I move as well as midday Saturday.

Hm... I suppose that Sundays seem to work best for everyone... Maybe I should change it again...

I feel sort of dumb now, I should've asked everyone their preferred playing date would be... Perhaps, Sunday at the same times.

... -sigh- Changing the practice for Sunday for the convince of the members.

Thank you for your input, Vint. ^^ Have fun with your party.
