SKYLEAGUE 6 PRESEASON
Sunday May 6th 6pm GMT

Entire tournament to finish this SUNDAY.

Due to the 5 (6 if you include SBDHFBS) teams, we want to make sure that these new teams are available to show up on Sundays. This is not required for teams who have participated in a previous SL, but should give a much needed practice for everyone. This is bo1 double elimination all standard SL rules will be followed. Seeds were based on last seasons SL results then the new teams were randomized into the remaining slots.

1st Round (without top 3 seeds): Cave
1st Round (with top 3 seeds): Snow
2nd Round: Cross
Semis:Funnelpark

Losers Bracket
1st Round (between loser of C and loser of B): UFO
1st Round: lostcity
2nd Round: darkwar
3rd Round:Maze
Semis: Grotto
Finals: Asteroids

Finals (Winner of winner bracket vs winner of loser bracket)
Hardcourt, ice, and Core

Please address questions about format or anything before the day of the tournament. Finals will go where winners of loser brackets vetos first map than winners of the winners bracket picks. If another game is needed, loser of the first game picks a map from the remaining two maps.

This doesn't look random. All the placements looks like bracket theory proper.
<edit>Oh, wait. I get it. The shown seeds != the an actual seed due to that separation not being available. I'm not sure if I've had too much dew or too little.

no fear, i'm saying why us? AIR and t3c should also be on 1st round together with arr, bbq, ball and smile because we also played last SL, unless i don't understand it right.

The seeding is explained in the first post, also the only teams getting a bye were ball bbq and arr because there are 13 teams in the league.

i think it would be better if there is no byes and become 1v6 2v5 3v4 and the rest new teams play themselves until 1 come up but i guess either way it's fine.

Remember this is just for practice and to make sure the new teams are available and organized. This should in the end be just friendly competition, and I would expect that being a lower seed is more advantageous here because you heave the opportunity to play more games and get more experience heading into the regular season.

If you really want we can have a Bo7 preseason that will take more than the entire regular season + playoffs.

Or you can vote for Andy's suggestion of BO7 and we can see how that plays

This type of format is not new. It happens for APL all the time and with a large number of NEW teams it seems to be a good idea to make sure that teams are able to show, so in week 4 one of the teams do not have to make-up 3,4,5,6,7,etc. games. To complete this in a reasonable time (i.e. 1 day) it only makes sense to do bo1.

didn't know that. for APL yes, was it the same for the previous SL or EABL?

Tek/Beef: In light of the main purpose of this event, it makes sense to me to keep it at bo1. Surely, a lot of teams will play some scrims against each other once they're eliminated, so that should compensate for it.

Again if we did bo3 it would take probably 3 weeks to complete this bo5 probably 4 weeks and b07 probably longer. We do not want SL to take 3 months to complete. This tournament is ONLY to show that new teams can be organized and come on Sundays. Its nice to have competition but from what we are trying to accomplish by holding this tournament before the regular season is help the new teams who may or may not have organization. The results of this tournament have NO impact on the rest of SL. Most likely teams are not going to be trying their best or have their best players because it is just about showing up rather than playing. This is my first SL as an admin but I fully support andys ideas and thoughts on how this should be run from just a logical sense. Please make constructive criticisms and suggest things for the future in a legitimate way and I will personally try to come up with ways to improve SL, but just blatantly criticizing the way things are handled is not a very good way to instill change.

Do we play only Round 1 this Sunday? Or this entire thing finishes on Sunday?

If it is the entire thing then bo1 is perfectly fine, nowhere in the first post does it explicitly say Round 1, 2, semis, finals, losers brackets all happens on Sunday. I was thinking only Round 1 on Sunday.

Please clarify.
