Hurrah! Another rant from classy!
A number of us politely ask for a schedule in advance of matchday, result: No schedule. Lets do a simple process of elimination here with workable solutions; Schedules weren't posted because Andy: A) forgot. B) Didn't have time. C) Doesn't feel its necessary. D) Feels that it would be negative to do so. E) Feels that it would in some way aid his own team, (bias) F) Is rebelling to requests for shedules in advance. G) Is still undecided on team FU. H) Is withholding information that we the people are unaware of ***** Solutions A) Share the workload with others. B) See A. C) Listen to how others feel about it. D) See C E) Well duh, that's obviously wrong. - Raincheck on sanity F) Understandable, and if he felt offended by any suggestions made on said matter be sure that it wasn't intended. G) No brainer, FU consists of experienced players who have proven they can be punctual. H) See C. Not trying to be suggestive in any way, please correct me if i may have missed something here. Also, for teams that are either newly formed or new to APL schedules in advance really matter, for instance; (newly formed or new to APL team) play (KazakhstanLovesFish) To give (newly formed or new to APL team) the best chance to make that matchup the most entertaining and competitive possible they will need to practice strategies to enable that. If im being pedantic or completely off the wall here then please say so, but this Just how i see it. Im sure if you ask any player though they will express their thanks to those who give their free time to organise events like this. Cheers. Last edited by classicallad; 09-22-2012 at 03:38 PM. |

I can guarantee that we will start this week, there is no reason to postpone.
Second of all, I will post the schedule if andy does not do it by this afternoon (he told me that he would take care of it, but I will if nothing is posted by this afternoon). I don't think at all that people need to know who they play or even the map pool. Especially new teams (with relatively inexperienced players) because they will know the least about the competition so all they can prepare for is something they could have done without know the competition anyways, and experienced teams and players know their competition and most experienced players/teams do not practice at all except on their own through ladder. I am fairly sure that we had already decided on the FU situation, so stop assuming things and just be patient. |

That we are being told to shush and be quiet without aplmins actually filling us in on the details, what on earth do you have to lose by discussing matters to do with APL with the players that will be partaking? Please explain. |

First off, this is not my tournament I have no final decision powers. I would of course approach things slightly differently if I did. And since I am not running the tournament, I do not feel comfortable making major changes without andy's acknowledgement.
Again, I don't think people need to know schedules it is my personal opinion and I am going to go out on a limb and say that the majority would agree with that statement. 2 out of 13 teams making something that may or may not be better for the tournament is not something I would be willing to change for. I honestly think there is zero advantage and gain from knowing your opponent. Mostly because I don't think people care enough in altitude to strategize (people say they do, but I honestly find that hard to believe) Just my opinion. I am fine if others disagree, and will be willing to concede my argument if enough people voiced their opinion otherwise. In the end, every apl has been run pretty much the same, and every time it is the same small percentage of the people saying they have the same complaints. I think this is the only week that you will not know immediately who you play. If you honestly believe that the results from this week would change by such a large majority to effect the overall results, then fine. If you really want to know who you will play, if I make the schedule I will just take the seedings from the preseason add FU as the 13th team and do a round robin from challonge.com (input them and you will know who you will play). Andy may want to set it up differently since I have not talked to him about it. And just so you know we are discussing this, but really one person with one other person is more of debate over a discussion. If more people inputted their opinions it would be more easily able to change things. Last edited by darknietzsche; 09-22-2012 at 05:06 PM. |

I guess we agree to disagree on the matter per-se, it is encouraging you saying that we shall know in advance from week 2 on, i hope that sticks.
So before making changes to anything, do we rely on theory only or experimentation? I'd say both in most cases, plus the fact that there is absolutely nothing to lose by doing so and gain (if you understand my point, DN excluded =P) by integrating it. Yep, more shout outs would be helpful, agreed there. Cheers for replying though. |

in previous apl's the entire round robin schedule was posted on week 1, so you would always know who you played the next week. i don't see why you would assume that would change.

While I'm not involved in this APL, I can see plenty of reasons to post the schedules in advance. How are teams supposed to coordinate or arrange reschedules if they have no idea who they're playing?
|

they have until the playoffs to arrange rescheds. giving them an extra few days won't help them hardly at all.

So the schedules were late because i was waiting for the admins to vote on team FU and since i had received only 1 vote until yesterday I wanted to wait for at least another vote to make a decision. I added my own vote making 3 votes in favour of the team so now FU is registered for APL. This had to take place considering that FU's registration happened after the registration deadline. I posted all the information like the map pool before, so you could train on those maps since you all say you do so.
Schedule has been slightly changed I suggest you check it again. |

It wasnt big thing, I set it up to use the pre-season rankings, and andy set it up to use the rankings from the results of pre-season. No big deal.

The lack of capitalisation of the 'L' in 'fLb' displeases me greatly, I say that we delay for 2 weeks.
