Default suggestion: a custom "start_nonneutral" for tbd

Neutral maps in the tbd map pool are played a lot less than non-neutrals, they take longer and it means you can pass the bomb way better and there isn't any wasting. I just think it could make ladder a bit enjoyable. Also, if a player doesn't have time for a middleground game then start_nonneutral would be way better. There could be a start_neutral, too. While it seems counterintuitive this would make the maps that people vote more diverse (which I think ladder badly needs - please tell me i'm not the only one who doesn't like playing the same maps over and over?) because a random function would be used more often; right now the order is cave, roids, cave, random, repeat.

And since I'm making a suggestion, I'll make a point to also thank all the ladder coders for their hard work

I personally don't see what's so wrong about neutral maps; makes the scenery a lot more difficult and puts pressure onto everyone on a team to be smart and drop some actual effort to play.

Also, if someone hops in to ladder and waits for the "custom_start" to choose teams, means he actually has the time for a middleground game.

I can't see the benefit of implementing this. The players in the server dictate the rotation with votes anyway. If there are 12 people in tbd ladder and 8+ vote tbd_asteroids in 10 times in a row, that is their perogative and fulfills the correct use of a vote system.

I like this...

Always good to have a little of both (neutral & team bombs), but I'd prefer team bombs probably 75% of the time. As you said, it expedites games, prevents blatant bomb wasting, and adds an extra aspect of team play in bomb running.

Am I the only one who thinks that in a much harder map, the game is actually more fun? Also, I just read the OP and he's suggesting a vote to play non-neutral only maps but at the end of it complains about how roids and cave are the only ones played. Class's post is more than enough here.

If you want to be guaranteed to play a team bomb map, you basically have to vote one of those two. Few other maps can be sure to pass a direct vote. A random all subset means the other team bomb maps get played.

If I'm really the only one who isn't too fond of playing cave five times and asteroids four times in a single ladder session than, admittedly, there's no real use for such a command. I'm assuming I'm not the only one who thinks this, but I could be wrong.

and if you want to play neutral maps at all then you have to vote start_random as the start_neutralmap votes will never pass. creating a start_nonneutral would essentially equate to removing neutral maps from the pool, unless there are enough people in the server that don't mind neutrals in which case games will never be started.
