If you're experiencing choppy framerates in windowed mode (seems to happen with a couple graphics drivers) the steps below should restore smooth gameplay:

F1 (to open console)
vsync false (disables vertical sync)
fps 200 (render at 200 frames per second)

Does it still work even it renders above 200 fps?

Does disabling sound change anything? How about "fps 1000" -- what framerate does the game claim to be achieving in the bottom left corner? (If not already enabled, go to Options -> Gameplay -> Show FPS and Ping)

You can target a higher FPS if you'd like (max is 1000) -- but you probably won't notice any difference (other than your graphics card getting hotter).

Thanks so much for this! I've been playing for a good 30 minutes and no keyboard freezes yet (I'm on Mountain Lion). Can anyone that has Mavericks installed test the update?

As for the FPS: does it even make sense to have a higher FPS limit than the monitor's refresh rate? I have mine set to 60 FPS because I think the iMac's screen is 60Hz. Correct me if I'm wrong.

If vsync is working correctly then vsync with native refresh rate is usually ideal. Unfortunately some graphics drivers have problems with vsync resulting in extremely choppy FPS. With vsync disabled the game buffer is rendered to the screen continuously while the monitor's pixels refresh; any render that occurs halfway between pixel refreshes can produce tearing artifacts; refreshing the game buffer at higher-than-native FPS helps minimize these artifacts.

OK, thanks for the detailed explanation, I turned VSync on.

CMD + A no longer works to select all text in chatbox. Same with CMD + C and CMD + V.

'ey.

After the patch, I've been getting this microstuttering. Every 5 seconds or so the framerate drops a bit.

My setup:
GT 650m SLI
I7-3630QM (2,4 GHz)
8 gigs of ram
Win 8

I run the game in borderless windowed mode. Haven't tried normal fullscreen.
I have set the /testtargetfps to 300.
I have vsync off.

I tried other targetfps settings, didn't help.
Turning off one of the GPUs reduces the stuttering but that causes some screen tearing.
Turning vsync on makes the game run smoothly but the controls feel really "slow" and sluggish as if the game was lagging 1 or 2 frames behind. Happens with both 1 and 2 GPUs on.

Before the patch I got some 280 fps. After the patch it dropped to 240.

Now the interesting thing is that after I opened Mumble, my game started to run normally. The only difference is that now I get somewhere between 340 and 380 fps with the testtargetfps set to 300. Prior to patch I've always had that 280 regardless of Mumble.
I have the mumble overlay enabled.

Default miranda Reverse Reorient Mouse = "werid"

Hey Lam

as a mirandaReverseReorientMouse="true" user this is quite important.

It reorients fine at first then seems to move to random points before settling back to a behaviour like mirandaReverseReorientMouse="false"

Thanks for the ballLost log entry. Will definitely help for collecting accurate ball stats.

I have always had surround sound speakers, but the game never played in surround sound. Sounds like my speakers are under water(kinda), not sure if I like it now. In the sound settings there is no setting for surround, stereo, ect. Any way to disable what you did?

Which OS/version are you running? I'm not seeing this issue on Windows.

Must be related to a change in the underlying OpenAL libraries. If you'd like to revert to the previous behavior you can unzip this file http://nimblygames.com/altitude/altitude_lwjgl_201.zip into your Altitude installation directory (on Windows it's ususally C:\Program Files (x86)\Altitude or C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\altitude).

Weird. If everything works well in windowed mode you can always mimic fullscreen mode:
Press F1 to open the console
Type testWindowedFullscreen true

For those experiencing technical issues: you can revert to the older graphics/audio libraries by unzipping the file http://nimblygames.com/altitude/altitude_lwjgl_201.zip
into your Altitude installation directory.

As soon as I updated, Altitude crashes on opening up.

I downloaded the patch. I then restarted Altitude as prompted. Altitude closed,
but never opened up. I waited a little while, nothing came up, then I got the crash report message. I restarted and tried opening Altitude. To my dismay, I
got the crash report again. This time I sent a report (so you know its me, I sent
it using the email ljaardvark59@gmail.com). I haven't experienced issues like this in the past on this computer (although I have had issues on older machines). I downloaded the lwjgl and unzipped it but it unfortunately made no difference. I will upload a video of what happens soon, so you get a better idea of how it happens. All help much appreciated.

Edit: Sorry for crap quality, but the video is here:

Are you sure you unzipped the archive linked above to the correct directory? (/Applications/Altitude) -- it should have overwritten several files including 3 .jar files.

Perhaps updating java will help? http://www.java.com/en/download/help...ava_update.xml

Please try this:
1) Close Altitude
2) Download http://nimblygames.com/altitude/altitude_lwjgl_201.zip
3) Extract the downloaded zip into your Altitude installation directory (for standalone Mac installs that directory is usually /Applications/Altitude ) -- several files should be overwritten during the unzip process
4) Launch Altitude

Im having the same issue and im running 10.5.8. Both are fairly old OS'. I actually ordered 10.6 on the apple store today, I'm sick of almost every application i download not working. Then i'll get 10.9. I really hope this fixes the issues. I mean, it's bearable if that happens to another application, but for altitude.......

It must be somehow due to our old OS'.

I decided myself to look into why this was happening, as it seems fairly common, even though I don't know much about this kinda stuff. Looking into the console messages of launch.log
I saw a lot of this:

Code:
INFO [2013-11-10 20:54:20,581] [main]: Launching '/Applications/Altitude/launch-game.xml', args=[]
WARN [2013-11-10 20:54:20,584] [main]: Launcher failed to load progress report from update/download/_update-progress.xml
INFO [2013-11-10 20:54:22,891] [main]: Launcher exited

Nothing changed with Loopy -- but perhaps your graphics are now over-aggressively vsyncing, which can introduce a 1 frame delay in controls. To avoid this you could disable vsync:
1) F1 to open console
2) vsync false (to disable vsync)
3) fps 180 (to minimize visual artifacts)

Hi I followed the above and am now experiencing the attached error message. Should I reinstall the entire program? It seems I've replaced entire directories not just the files contained in the zip file...
