Default read the rules of the forums or get banned

http://altitudegame.com/forums/showthread.php?t=304

flagrantly violating the rules will result in an immediate ban without question.

Thank you

Not trying to be argumentative here, but I am curious as to why there is such a large effort from you guys to moderate these forums with immediate bans while there is little to no effort to actually moderate the content in the game? I have never seen anyone really complain about the forums while people complain all the time about players in game (ie http://altitudegame.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1019). Maybe it's time to take a closer look at adding admins on the official servers and adding bannable in game offenses similar to the forums? Again, I am not trying to be argumentative, but it just seems like with your limited time that you would be better off controlling the content people are paying for and seem to have a larger problem with than constantly worrying about the forums. Although both are important, it just seems like a time management issue as I imagine most things are these days.

I agree that both are important. Our goal has always been to allow the in-game community to self-regulate through tools like the mute function. Obviously what's in place now isn't always sufficient, so we'll be working on additional moderation tools for especially problematic players soon.

I suggest not allowing players to have names like hitler or anything else that is prone to piss off 1/2 the population. Get rid of all faggy references too.

Thats a little extreme however a "report player" feature would be nice.

I don't think "report player" is the answer. There's alot of people who use that kind of thing as retribution for a sound ***kicking, use it on someone after a disagreement, etc... Also, is there a way to make sure people don't steal your name? I've had someone go around using my name trying to give me a bad rep. >.> Just some ideas.

The key is realising you're worrying about your 'rep' in a video game.

Then you don't care anymore and neither does anyone else.

That's a good point if report behaved like votekick or Lam and Karl had poor judgment. I think they would respond appropriately to reports. Punishing spurious reporting, at least by removing the user's reporting ability (silently preferably), would also help.

Or, I'm sure they'd gather both sides of the story/and or view the chat logs.
