Everything is working fine, except that every few minutes game disconnects from the server I'm playing on, saying "connection lost".

Now, I can't figure if it's just my connection that sucks or something else. I'm running on winXP. I paste the log from game start to first disconnection (highlighted in red). Code:

Btw, the problem began only 10 days ago or so (dunno exactly when, but if it happened before it was much less frequent so that I can't remember). Ideas? |

are you using a wireless connection? Is there anyone else on your network playing Altitude?

I am using a wired connection and no one else is playing.

I tried with the laptop (ubuntu, wireless) and the problem persists. So I suppose it's just my internet line that is going mad. Or it's something with the router. The only thing to do is port-forwarding UDP 27272, right? |

Yes, all you can do is set up port forwarding and make sure there are no background processes / other people on your network that could be disrupting your connection.

It's sometimes interesting to run a looping ping against a stable internet destination (for example one of google's servers) and against the game server you are playing on (e.g. vapor.nimblygames.com for the "Official #1/2/3" servers) to see whether you have a general connection problem, or it's just the server (or a specific region of your network) that's acting up. Under windows, open a command prompt (start -> run -> cmd) and type ping -t google.com (under linux you should omit the -t parameter) Open a new command prompt and ping -t vapor.nimblygames.com Then play on Official #1/2/3. When you're disconnected, immediately tab over to the command prompts and stop the ping processes. If both pings spike (or record lost packets) just before disconnect, you have a general internet problem. If only the game server ping spiked, the game server may be having issues. |

			This is funny.

While running a looping ping everything is fine. If I stop it, after some time i get disconnected as usual. So probably it's my connection unstable? Anyway, I can just start the ping stuff before playing (I put that in a .bat, so I do not even have to type in the console :P). There are no problems in having the looping ping running for a long time (till i stop playing)? |
