Well I personally reckon the original halo is awesome

Also some other mad games I have been addicted to are:
*The Elder Scrolls - Oblivion
*Worms World Party (*cry* - Vista Killed it!!!)
*Forza Motorsport
*The Matrix - Path of Neo
*Star Wars - Republic Commando
*Pokemon (originals) on GB

and others.....

There is a bit of a truth in this statement but lets look at it in a different way - the rankings are based on a collective average of personal/industry reviews. A game may be spectacular to one person but another would think its rubbish -if there is a collection of positive reviews in comparison to a couple of negative ones, one could assume the game is good.

It's like someone asking a friend "Is Half-Life 2 any good?" and then the single person says "No". The person has missed out on a spectacular game because of someone's opinion instead of the collective whole.

-- Update --
Granted, everyone has their personal favourites but the rankings do help guide to worthwhile experiences.

You mean other than Braid, N+, and CS?

Here are some other indie games I liked:

Steam Brigade, Eternal Daughter, Mount & Blade, Cave Story, Warning Forever, Gravity Bone, Within A Deep Forest, Armadillo Run, Chalk, Trilby: the Art of Theft, Flywrench, Nikujin, Legend of Princess, Cursor*10, The Dishwasher: Dead Samurai

Indie games are mostly pretty terrible though. Even out of the ones I liked, most of them are just flashes in the pan that are fun for a couple hours (or in some cases minutes) and then I move on. And god there are so many well-loved indie games that are so bad argghh.

Oh, see I wasn't viewing this thread as something useful. I just figured it was what the label said - people's favourite games. If you're actually trying to find new games then sure, debating which games are good and bad has purpose, but in the context of this thread I thought we were just bouncing opinions.

I feel sorry for anyone who hasn't played the Half Life games. Granted they are a sort of different kind of FPS, oh the memories.....

Didn't spot Braid and N+ in there!

How about some of these ones:

World of Goo
Aquaria
Gish
Dangerous High School Girls in Trouble!
Eets

Sadly it degenerated into a "my opinion of what a good game is is better than your opinion of what a good game is therefor your opinion is wrong and so is your reasoning behind it."

Pretty sure it never degenerated into that, and pretty sure you're taking a very pretentious attitude.

Most of my online gaming is involved with telnet BBS in door games such as Yankee Trader, Arrowbridge, Legend of the Red Dragon, and Usurper.

Non-bbs I'm in Stendhal and Altitude.

I kinda want to ask what steam punk is...but I'm afraid I'll get the same type of confusing tl;dr jibberish as when you ask someone what starcraft is....

Well, to try and condense it for you, ARAB, steampunk is the idea that steam technology and Victorian Society were never "phased out" and instead progressed to the point where you have **** like steam-powered airplanes and jet-packs and stuff. It also uses a lot of brass and exposed gears.

Well it could be used as a lyrical theme I guess. Some modders also having fun with it...
EDIT: Oh and i forgot about people associating it with punk music. It's more associated with cyberpunk and in general with punk as a person of the counter culture.
