That's strange, the DNS entry that Altitude tries to look up is this:
vapor.nimblygames.com [currently 205.234.203.34] Have you tried flushing your DNS entries (Start -> Run -> cmd -> ipconfig /flushdns)? Try changing your DNS server configuration (typically it's a settings page on your router) to use the OpenDNS servers: 208.67.222.222, 208.67.220.220 |

is the cmd the same for a mac.. im using a macbook..
for the DNS server configuration, is it the settings found under port forwarding on my router settings? |

Don't worry about the DNS flush command (those were Windows-only instructions).
The DNS configuration will be somewhere under the router settings, though probably not on the same page as port forwarding. If you have recently set up port forwarding (and it's not set up exactly perfectly) that may be the problem -- try reverting any recent changes to your router and connecting again. |

Your old account still exists on our servers -- you just need to click "Switch Users" and then log in using your old Email and Password. If you were playing from an anonymous account (Guest_12398 etc) you will need to start over.

Me too......
I couldn't play Altitude for some weeks, cause my pc crashed. After that, I switched to Mac (new 27" iMac) and just wanted to play Altitude. I'm also having this problem.....the screen stays at "Resolving DNS entries".
It worked all great, when I was still using my PC (with the old Altitude-version). As far as I can see, there are no Firewalls running (Altitude is the 2nd installed program), at least the one from Mac OS X is deactivated. Are you experiencing slow internet problems when browsing the web?
A bit of searching turned up this post: http://installingcats.com/2008/06/05...-with-leopard/ which talks about DNS problems under OSX. I will continue to investigate, but if you can follow their instructions and try an OpenDNS server I am very interested to know whether that resolves the problem. |

Please send your logs (all the files in /Applications/Altitude/log) to support@nimblygames.com so I can take a look.

No, i can browse the web at standard speed, everything works fine, except Altitude......
I just tried to use one of the OpenDNS, but they don't work at all for me, i loose the connection to the net. By the way (if that matters): I live in Europe, Germany. I also tried to ping the DNS entry of Altitude (by typing it into Safari) and it immediately opened, it's just Altitude, no matter if I load the Browser-version or the special one for OS X. Looks like this was caused by a strange socket bug in OS X. This issue will be resolved in the next patch. For users who are affected (stuck at resolving DNS, and thus unable to update), the following instructions should resolve the issue and allow you to update:
1) Close Altitude 2) Open /Applications/Altitude/config/options.xml in a text editor 3) Modify the networkOptions line to say: upnpEnabled="false" 4) Save options.xml 5) Launch Altitude |
