You need any explodet or miranda baller? And am i able to join you while i'm still in IL because i like ball but none of IL| does.

If i will be able to care to try me out?

My possible matchtimes aren't really great. When it is 3:30 PM EST i gtg anyway so i could play a game at 3 but gtg at 3:30.

On a sidenote i just read your post. Try using ventrilo a voice chat program so you can talk with each other.
Thanks, wolf. We have a member with ventrilo. I'm not so interested (already addicted enough to Altitude as it is), but it's a good suggestion. I like the IM'ing... OjM is talking about strategy guides (see above, below this post).

Yes, you're welcome to try out. Just be aware that we are very selective. We're looking for game-changers, people who enter the game and it shifts immediately. Our match times tend to be more like 9pm-10pm Pacific, but that may change as we schedule more matches. We're a young clan!

Just find me in-game, or suggest a time (evenings after 8pm PST are best) for a tryout. I don't want more mirandas until they get rid of self-pass. But if that's your best plane, go for it and we can discuss. Explodet would be great. We have a couple, but they are really useful in ball matches.

That's what I was talking about. A place outside the forums for strategy discussions, images, etc. I love the idea of "best shot location" screenshots. I was thinking the same thing. We don't all get to see each other play (and even when we're in-game, we sometimes miss great shots, moves, etc.), so it would give us an advantage and be interesting for the clan.

GMT-8. We're 9 hours behind you. So at 9pm PST, it should be 6am your time. =(

If you can, private message me so we can keep the thread cleaner. Thanks!

Default Ball Server

By the graciousness of Maimer (nesnl), we have a server:

Altitude Pro Ball #1

It is for clan vs. clan matches and {ball/*} scrimmages ONLY. Please do not use it for try outs or casual play with non-clan members. That's what who? or the public servers are for.

Currently, I am the server admin, which means that I can changemaps, etc. as needed.

Private message me, drunkguava, or wiseguy (or talk to us in-game) for the password. Please do not share the password outside of our clan. If you give out the password to other {ball/*} members, please ask them to read this post at http://tinyurl.com/ballserver.

--tgleaf

P.S. Maimer may be adding a "lobby" soon as in other Pro servers. For now, though, we can use the /starttournament and /stoptournament commands (not sure if I have to be there). Basically, you get everyone assembled, transfer to correct teams (doesn't matter what map), and then /starttournament. That locks in the teams. Other people can come and go, but can't spawn into the game. You can /changemaps when needed, but to change teams, you have to /stoptournament, reassemble teams, and then /starttournament. Could be used for swapping teams in-between maps...

Default Guide to 5v5 BALL

I think one guide is missing:

http://altitudegame.com/forums/forumdisplay.php?f=13

Seems we could take what OjM wrote, what arty, Harmonica, and others have been suggesting, and spin it all into a guide. If anyone wants to take that on, be our guest!

Ask and you shall receive. I have set up a strategy site that we can use to post tips, discuss upcoming matches, work on guides, upload screenshots, etc.

http://ballstrategy.wordpress.com

You will need to create a wordpress account and let me know your [edit: wp requires an email address] so that I can add you to the site.

I will, of course, keep your email address confidential, but I also understand if you don't wand to share it with me.

Default An open challenge

I ran an idea by Brillo today. If any of the players listed below (or anyone I've forgotten) like this idea, chat me up or private message me.

My idea is to schedule a scrimmage against all of the clanless but talented ball players in Altitude. Okay, maybe not ALL... but definitely 5v5 or 6v6. I know it would be hard to schedule, but still.

[Edit: until a full squad of clanless ballers agrees to this, it's just an idea...]

This is my list, but there are others of course:

Brillo
Stu
A Frail Old Lady
Maimer
jazzspazz
The Awesome One
phil
barmanamok
sunshineduck (if you'll have him)

I would be pleasured to play. I am fairly good, "It depends on your definition..." but I would like to play, I have also seen {ball} players and they are serious! They do not talk a lot run their mouths and such forth, but they are determined like IL|. So I tip my hat to you tgleaf for making one of the best clans this week.

Default The long awaited results from our first clan match vs. {ICE}

Wait no more.

Er, continue to wait. As you were.

And wait. And wait.

I'll just wait for an explanation... {ICE} was a no show.

Hope we can reschedule, Vega. You pay for pizza this time.

Default Scrimmage Videos

Once YouTube finishes processing it, you can see the video here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PbPLeuViz7o

Note: The quality is pretty low. I'll see if I can upload a higher-quality video later.

Watch highlights from our first ever {ball}/{ball*} tournament. You'll see:

OjM score his third goal of the game (hat trick)!
Drunkguava and tgleaf duke it out in a captains' duel
A tgleaf triple kill, followed by a save by dragracer, and finished off with a VietCampo goal
Stunning wall placements
Whale ballers and whales getting walled
...and more!

Default New Tryout Policy Effective Today

As of 12:40am (PST), the {ball} clan hereby declares that:
All clans wishing to challenge us to a match must first tryout.

The tryout will proceed as follows:
Arrange for your entire squad (if 5v5, then 5 players; if 6v6, then 6 players, etc.) to be online on the specified date and time.

Once confirmation has been made that your players were able to meet our standards (that is, showing up at the specified date and time):
You will then be eligible to play against the {ballBearings*}, a clan that only plays against clans that have a sense of bearing.
Please do not ask to play against us without trying out. Even if you are very skilled at making meetings on time, and you always have your wristwatch set to the second, you still must try out. I know, it's a lot to ask, but we're an exclusive kind of clan.

*Sub-clans are SO popular right now, I couldn't resist.

lol tg, really? no one will play you now . except us. once the bALLSTARs are back from vacation we will be challenging you and we will not be trying out. we will be cleaning up, however. (you got a little taste of that today)
by the way, {ICE} not showing up counts as a forfeit I think. Add it to the record!!!

You and harmonica are going on vacation, huh? 'Cause from what I remember, your team was a NO SHOW, too. Two players out of 12 from {ball*}. Not exactly a force to be reckoned with. Next time, I pull my team from your side and we go 2v5, bro. 2v5.

Edit: you'd probably win, but I'm just saying, that's how it would go down. That's all.

I am personally responsible for {ICE} not showing up last night. I had a friend pass away in a tragic motorcycle accident and was unable to be home. I would love to reschedule for any night but Sunday.
Thanks for understanding

yep agree with guava, this is 1-0 for {ball}. Teams that simply don't show up without announcing it or asking for a re-schedule ahead of time implies a forfeit/loss. That's a first official victory to {ball} (not very proud of it, simply too easy, but it still counts no matter what the opposing team's arguments are, even if they are justifiable. We should be strict in this as otherwise we are likely to have many non-serious commitments)

tgleaf I can't be certain, but such tryouts could be an overhead preventing the good clans from challenging us. Instead, and as an incentive for clans to show up to the games, I would suggest that we create a single page with a table where we reflect all the matches played by {ball}, against which teams we played, and the outcome of those matches. If this page gets high visibility from the rest of the clans, it should usually be enough incentive for the serious clans to commit to the games. I think that non-serious clans will always remain a nuisance, whether we have tryouts, high visibility score tables or anything else, those clans however will fade out relatively quickly.

So my thumbs up to have a single page reflecting the historical results along with a very short section on our 'challenging rules'. From this first experience we should for example highlight that a no show-up implies a loss which will be highlighted in the historical score table and thus permanently recorded.

Btw many thanks to you tgleaf as you have been putting much effort in shaping up the clan with lots of communication and organization. The dedication you're displaying is exemplary.

And just as guava, I too am looking forward for a few {ball} vs {ball*} games as soon as the holidays/vacation/finals period is over. There should be some serious ass-kicking from both sides

Is tgleaf really just one person? Between playing, managing the clan, and posting in the forum, I wonder whether 3 or 4 people are secretly doing things under the same handle. ;-)

there are only two people on it. And it's mostly just one guy who plays. Both of them are in {ball*}. and tg, i think harm's guessing that you're multiple people with ONE name lol. The two people on gorkha/ruke2's account have 15 names between them :P

Default {KLF} and {ball} battle for top baller designation!!!

Or not.

We put on a show. They didn't show up. classicallad got stuck traveling in snowy weather. Totally understand that. The rest of them???

Shame.

I have to think long and hard before I schedule another clan match.

Let's have another tourney, but we need enough {ball*} members for even teams. I can't help it if guava and wise aren't any good at recruiting.

GGs though today anyway.
